In a way that was almost instinctual, he knows. It’s as if his wolf has whispered a truth that resonates deep within him—my wolf and his are entwined, destined in a bond that transcends mere words. The realization washes over me, a tide of emotions that I can’t quite grasp. How on earth am I going to articulate this? Or perhaps I could simply feign ignorance, act as if I haven’t a clue what he’s alluding to the next time our paths cross. But the truth is, as much as I might convince myself that I wouldn’t mind avoiding him, I know that’s not the reality for him.

“Boss, who’s that man—” Ross inquired, his curiosity piqued.

“That was Alpha Samuel Bowers.” My voice dripped with an icy detachment as I elaborated, “He’s the patriarch of the Bowers family, the Alpha of the Blood Moon Pack, and the CEO of Centurion Group.”

His expression morphed into one of sheer disbelief.

“A—Alpha S-Samuel Bowers? The Bowers family—the most influential family in Chanaea?” Ross stammered, swallowing hard as he processed the weight of the name. “I knew he was no ordinary man. The way he glared at me, it felt like he wanted to tear my flesh from my bones and devour me whole!”

“Relax. You’re too big to be swallowed whole,” I reassured him, a hint of amusement dancing in my tone.

“Boss, why did you tell him I was your boyfriend?” His voice took on a tone of realization, as if the pieces were finally falling into place. “Is he the one who forced a kiss on you at the bar earlier?”

I couldn’t help but chuckle, recalling his earlier bravado. “I remember you saying you’d break that man’s third leg…” I teased, a smirk gracing my lips. It was evident that Ross was shaken by Samuel’s presence.

“I mean, I was clearly drunk when I said that! I don’t remember a thing!” he protested, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment.

I pursed my lips, gazing out the window, lost in thought.

Deep down, I understood that Samuel was leagues ahead of me, and Ross was no match for him either.

Even though I had established Dream Company and watched it flourish at an astonishing rate over the years, it paled in comparison to the legacy of the Bowers family. Their influence and financial might were the result of decades of careful cultivation.

But surrender was not in my nature.

I was resolute in my ambition to transform Dream Company into a business empire that would stand shoulder to shoulder with Centurion Group.

I had to admit, if there was one trait I admired in Samuel, it was his prowess as a CEO. Under his leadership, Centurion Group had soared to unprecedented heights.

Alpha Samuel Bowers.

As we arrived home, Steven bombarded me with questions about “that woman,” as he so dismissively referred to her. He was blissfully unaware that it was Natalie behind that mask. When I remained tight-lipped, he turned his attention to the minor cut on my hand, insisting I call a doctor for what was essentially a healed wound, just a red scar that would vanish by morning.

“Please, just drop it, Steven. I’d like to check on the kids and then get some rest,” I implored him, my patience wearing thin.

“Fine, but you’re going to tell me who that woman is and why you let her insult you like that, right? I’ve never seen you act this way about a woman before,” he pressed, his curiosity unyielding.

With a frustrated sigh, I relented. “You really want to know?”

“Yes, I do,” he replied, his eagerness palpable.

“Alright, but after this, no more questions,” I warned, and he nodded, albeit reluctantly.

“That woman is Natalie, and the reason I’m so captivated by her is that she’s my mate.” The words slipped from my lips, and I could see his jaw drop in shock.

“Goodnight, brother,” I said, turning away to retreat into the living room. I was about to pour myself a drink when I sensed a familiar presence, a smile creeping onto my face. I continued my task, pretending I hadn’t noticed her arrival.

“How long are you going to hide and watch me from there?” I called out playfully.

My little girl looked utterly perplexed.

“Momma?” she asked, her voice soft and innocent.

“Yes, Sophia, your momma,” I replied, my heart aching with the truth of it.

Natalie had become more of a mother to her than Yara had ever been.

“Why are you up, Sophia?” I inquired, realizing she wasn’t the one I should be discussing these matters with.

“Wait for daddy,” she said, placing her tiny hand on my face.

“You were waiting up for me?” I asked, touched. She nodded, her cuteness disarming any frustration I might have felt.

“Why, though?” I pressed.

She scrambled off my lap and dashed away, only to return moments later, clutching a piece of paper in her small hands, which she eagerly handed to me.

It was a drawing of two stick figures, clearly in the midst of a wedding, with the words “Daddy” and “Mummy” scrawled beneath them.

She climbed back onto my lap, placing her hands on my cheeks.

“M-Mommy will…” Sophia squeezed my cheeks, her smile unwavering as she stammered, “L-Like… You…”

Her words filled me with a bittersweet joy.

“I made a mistake and missed the chance to be with her a long time ago,” I confessed, my voice heavy with regret. “But this time, I won’t let her slip away from us again.”
