The Alpha’s Malia Luna

Chapter 140

I couldn’t move, Couldn’t breathe,

It didn’t feel like a dream.

My feet were bare, Cold. The stone beneath me was like ice. Shadows moved around my ankles like smoke that had come alive.

Somewhere far away, I heard chains.

Metal scraping against stone.

Someone was crying, Soft. Hopeless.

I turned toward the sound, unsure why my legs moved but unable to stop them. A small torch lit the wall ahead, flickering like it didn’t want to stay lit. The hallway was old, crumbling. It smelled like mildew and wet earth.

The wallswere they breathing?

I touched one.

It pulsed under my hand, like a heartbeat made of stone.

That’s when I knew this wasn’t just a dream. It was something more. Something wrong.

I kept going. Every step echoed too loud, too real.

Then I turned a cornerand stopped.

Nala.

She was locked in a cage.

Her knees pulled to her chest, arms wrapped around herself. Her face looked pale and sunken, like she hadn’t eaten in days. Her hair used to be soft and smoothnow it was tangled, dirty, clinging to her cheeks.

She rocked back and forth. Talking to herself.

Naia?I whispered.

Her head jerked up so fast, I gasped.

Now, I was somewhere else,

A large, circular room. Dark red fire burned in the corners. Hooded people stood around a stone altar, chanting words I didn’t understand. Their faces were hidden, but I could feel how wrong they were.

The air felt thick, Heavy, Like something terrible was about to happen.

Something had followed me here.

I could feel it watching.

Stop it,I whispered to myself. Stop thinking. Stop feeling. Stop everything.

I closed the door. Curled up in the tub, knees to my chest.

A few minutes passed.

ThenI heard whispering.
