The Alpha’s Malia Luna
Chapter 140
I couldn’t move, Couldn’t breathe,
It didn’t feel like a dream.
My feet were bare, Cold. The stone beneath me was like ice. Shadows moved around my ankles like smoke that had come alive.
Somewhere far away, I heard chains.
Metal scraping against stone.
Someone was crying, Soft. Hopeless.
I turned toward the sound, unsure why my legs moved but unable to stop them. A small torch lit the wall ahead, flickering like it didn’t want to stay lit. The hallway was old, crumbling. It smelled like mildew and wet earth.
The walls–were they breathing?
I touched one.
It pulsed under my hand, like a heartbeat made of stone.
That’s when I knew this wasn’t just a dream. It was something more. Something wrong.
I kept going. Every step echoed too loud, too real.
Then I turned a corner–and stopped.
Nala.
She was locked in a cage.
Her knees pulled to her chest, arms wrapped around herself. Her face looked pale and sunken, like she hadn’t eaten in days. Her hair used to be soft and smooth–now it was tangled, dirty, clinging to her cheeks.
She rocked back and forth. Talking to herself.
“Naia?” I whispered.
Her head jerked up so fast, I gasped.

But she didn’t answe
She just laughed louder.
The shadows behind her stretched across the floor and curled toward me like black vines. I tried to run, but the floor vanished.
Everything twisted–melted–until the dungeon was gone.
Now, I was somewhere else,
A large, circular room. Dark red fire burned in the corners. Hooded people stood around a stone altar, chanting words I didn’t understand. Their faces were hidden, but I could feel how wrong they were.
The air felt thick, Heavy, Like something terrible was about to happen.
The altar was stained. Something dark.
They were doing a ritual.
i tried to scream, but no sound came out.
Then–one of them turned,
It was him.
Lucas.
He looked straight at me. Smirking.
“You really thought you were safe?” he said.
Then more of them turned,

The room spun.
The door flew open.
“Serene!” Damlan ran in, wide–eyed, “I’m here! You’re safe!
I scrambled away, back hitting the wall,
“They’re here!” I sobbed. “They followed me! They were in my head–they laughed–they saw me!”
He reached out, but 1 flinched. My fingers dug into my arms, scratching. “Naia… Lucas… they saw me.”
Damian looked scared. “Shhh, shhh. It was just a dream.”

I sat up slowly. Then threw up in the sink.
Something had followed me here.
I could feel it watching.
“Stop it,” I whispered to myself. “Stop thinking. Stop feeling. Stop everything.”
I closed the door. Curled up in the tub, knees to my chest.
A few minutes passed.
Then–I heard whispering.
Not from outside.
From behind the mirror,
I jumped out of the tub, heart pounding.
“Leave me alone!” I screamed at my own reflection,
My face looked wrong. My eyes were too dark,
The lights flickered.
“Serene!” Damian’s voice came from the hallway. He pounded on the door.
I didn’t answer.
He burst in–and found me on the floor again, hugging my knees,
“I’m fine,” I lied, but my voice cracked, “I’m fine. It’s over.”
“Serene… please.”
“I just want silence. Please, silence.”
Mira stood behind him. “The doctor’s on her way.”
The doctor arrived twenty minutes later.

She was young, calm, and too quiet.
Het name was Dr. Lyra. She had sharp gray eyes and moved like someone who had seen a lot of strange things.
She crouched in front of me, her voice soft. “Serene, can you hear me?”
I blinked.
