She had a warm smile on her face the moment they met and Lori was convinced she would like her.
She was tall, a tall woman. With long lithe limbs and short curly ginger hair. Her skin was a deep dark brown that reminded her of the guard who took her blood. She had also come in comfortable clothes. Long tight leggings and a tracksuit top.
She was a whole foot taller than Lori.
But as they spent more time together on their way underground Lori grew to like her.
“You might be surprised… but I have met a few nephilim before?”
“Really?!”
Lori asked and Myra nodded.
“I was on a trip to New Mexico. I was still a field agent then but it was work related. I got s nasty injury and I thought I was going to die. I woke up a few hours later in the back of a truck with two men with wings staring at me. They had saved me with their blood.”
“Wow. How did they look like?”
Myra shook her head.
“Magnificent… they never told me their names, but I stayed with them for at least two nights while I regained my strength. They dropped me back where
they picked me up.”
“During that time is as just grateful enough to be alive. So I didn’t think much about them then.”
“My kind seems to be very solitary.”
Lori mused.
“I also met a nephilim recently but she fled because of me.”
Myra placed a hand on Lori’s shoulder, not missing her sour expression.
“Your kind has been haunted for years. I don’t blame them for being paranoid.”
“You’re probably right. Who knows if I’m being hunted right now?”
Myra shook her head.
“Nobody would be stupid enough to do that.”
She answered.
“You’re Gabriel’s mate. That sends a clear message. If they want you they’d have to go through him.”
It was then Lori realized the beauty of a pack. Werewolves were organized, they had structure, a hierarchy that every wolf respected. She didn’t see that

often.
Maybe if her own kind was like that they would have been able to survive opposition.
They reached the training ground moments later. Large, underground, Lori had been there a few times. The wolves stopped to watch her. Many of them already knew who she was. And apart from the guards, majority of them liked to keep their distance. Now with Gabriel not around, they were all openly
staring at her.
Myra scolded some of them for staring, but it only made the rest look at her harder. Lori was relieved when Myra told her they would be training in a more
secluded room. At least she would be able to avoid their watchful eyes.
They entered a smaller room, but still equally large. The room was empty, except for a few equipments here and there. Myra dropped her gym bag on the
rubber floor. Lori did the same.
“Did you notice what I did earlier?”
“What?”
Lori asked and Myra smiled.
“We took the stairs first all the way up to the twentieth floor before we came back down.”
They did. Lori wondered why she did that but didn’t ask.
“Oh yea. We did.”
“I was testing your strength. Most amateurs get tired on the fourth floor. You didn’t even budge when we were on the twentieth floor.”
That must have been due to her powers, because Lori remembered exactly how weak she was and used to be.
“I really didn’t notice.”
Myra nodded.
“It’s okay. At least now we can conclude that super strength is definitely a power you have.”
“We won’t be doing much today… since it’s your first day but I’d like to try something.”
“What?”
