Chapter 226

Lori raised her eyebrows.
“I’m not touching that. You think I’m stupid?”
“You read it.”
She demanded as she folded her arms.
Kate’s smile faltered a bit.
She looked around the bathroom.
Two women chattering loudly walked in. They paused and their faces visibly paled when they saw Lori. They quietly disappeared into respective bathroom
stalls.
“You’re being too paranoid.”
“And you’re being suspicious.”
Lori retorted.
“It’s a private letter. For you only.”
Kate defended herself.
Lori shrugged.
“I don’t mind you and the women in this bathroom hearing it.”
Kate scoffed.
“Fine.”
Kate reached for the envelope but then in a sudden twist of events, she reached for Lori. Fist formed into a punch approaching. She was fast, but Lori had anticipated the move,
She hit Kate under the jaw while simultaneously avoiding her punch. Kate stepped back and swung at her. Lori shrugged her shoulder up and took the punch on it, the pain stung, but dissipated in seconds.
She hit Kate four times, three lefts and a right in the face. Kate stumbled back, blood rushing from her nose.
This time. She wouldn’t give her her blood.
This time she hoped there was a scar.
“You bitch.”
Kate murmured as she touched her bleeding nose.

Chapter 226
Lori was still too engrossed in the scene in front of her to notice Sabine sneaking up on her from the other entrance.
When she saw the shadow and turned, it was already too late.
Sabine jabbed a needle into her arm.
Lori staggered as she quickly removed the needle from her arm.
“What?! What is that?!”
Sabine ignored her as she walked out.
Kate stood upright and walked to the sink, she washed her nose. The wound was healing, slowly but healing.
It was an ambush. They had ambushed her.
Sabine had sent Kate to distract her.
But why?
And what was in the needle?!
Poison?!
Kate turned to her as she used a tissue to wipe the left over blood on her face.
She smirked as she saw the confused look on Lori’s face. Lori stared at her arm. She felt fine but she knew whatever was in the needle was dangerous.
“You know… I always knew I’d make you pay for what you did at Elliot’s funeral.”
“I didn’t know when you were going to pay… but I’m glad it’s happening now.”
Lori chuckled.
“You partnered with Sabine to bring me down?”
Kate shrugged.
“The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
“I’m sure you’ve heard that phrase.”
Kate murmured.

She had not. But she knew about it all too well. Just like how Lyle had partnered with Sabine to bring Gabriel down. And How her adopted brother had also done the same and now Kate was doing the same thing.
Why did it seem like everywhere they turned they found enemies?!
Why?!

Chapter 226
“You picked a wrong friend. After she uses you, she’s going to leave you high and dry.”
Lori suddenly felt queasy. She managed to compose herself but her hand flew to her head.
God… why did she feel the insane urge to turn?
Kate shrugged.
“Perhaps. But I’ll get what I want before that.”
“Goodbye.”
With that, she left the bathroom.
Lori doubled over in agony.
She looked at her palms and felt her claws sharpening. Her wings were growing.
She slowly stood up, trying to fight it.
Fight whatever inner battle was going on in her body.
She heard voices and rushed into a stall.
Twisting the lock so hard that the metal bended.
She would stay there for a while.
Seconds felt like hours and Lori could feel rage growing in her. Like an overwhelming pit of fire. She knelt on the floor, not caring that her knees would scrape the granite and slapped her wrists on the side of the walls. She dug her claws into the concrete stone wall, anything to restrain herself, the pain was blinding.
Even if it was just for a few moments. Before the rage threatened to override her senses.
The stupid amulet Gabriel had given her.
What was it’s use?!
This was no a dark object, but it was dark magic.
It should be protecting her?!
‘Gabriel. I need you,’
She called through their bond.
She would hold on.
Until he came.
