Chapter 234
He had seen her naked many times, she had no reason to be shy, but she was still a bit self conscious as she lowered herself into the giant bathtub,
‘Don’t talk about her right now…. I think we’ve had enough of that woman’s name hanging over us like a plaque.”
Lori gulped hard.
‘I agree…”
The water was warm and as she sat in it she felt instant relief washing over her bones. She sunk in lower, leaving only her head in view.
“Whatever she injected in me… I think it’s all gone now…”
Gabriel sighed in relief as he sat at the edge of the tub watching her.
“That’s good… I was scared shitless.”
Lori chuckled.
“Me too… but somehow we managed it.”
“Together.”
He added.
“Yes. Together…”
Wordlessly, Gabriel picked picked up a washcloth and lifted one of Lori’s legs. He scrubbed gently, too gently.
Lori didn’t mind, she relaxed in the tub and let him do his thing. But even though her body was now at ease… her mind was still restless.
What would happen now?
What next?!
Those were the questions in her mind. She knew it was unfair to ask since he would probably not have answers, but she needed to know.
‘Now… what next?”
Gabriel was silent for several seconds before he replied.
‘We find her. Get Jack back… live happily ever after.”
Lori chuckled.
Happily ever after?
“Happily ever after… do you believe that?”

She asked and Gabriel nodded.

“I think a part of me does… but the other part… the rational part knows that would never happen. The world we’re in… it’s not built for happily ever afters.”
“And then there’s still the whole Luna issue.”
Lori didn’t know why she brought that up, but it had also been on her mind. During the alpha’s summit many women had introduced themselves as the Luna of the pack. Not just a mate, but a Luna. With their own authority.
Lori knew being a Luna was important and before the whole Elliot thing had happened it was clear the elders of the pack didn’t want her as Luna.
“There’s no issue. You’re my Luna… we’ll proceed with the Luna rites regardless of what my grandfather or anybody else has to say.”
Siobhan wasn’t a very good witch. She was easily distracted. And forgetful. Though she had managed to keep Astra subdued and drugged, the effects of the potion she had made wore off less than an hour later. Astra stayed mute and soon the unsuspecting witch went back to other activities, one of which included flirting with the guard. The two of them had disappeared later, leaving her alone in the room.
The dark objects dampened her powers, but as someone who had lived a fair share of her life as a human, she had learned how to pick locks and now that her mind was much clearer, the lock on the heavy dark object that cuffed her hands looked easy enough to pick.
She spent several trying to overturn her chair. The room had been left in a mess, the blood, the gore and the dismantled furniture. Astra didn’t have time to
mourn or feel guilty about the people she killed.
