The Alpha’s Plus Size Obsession novel Chapter 10

Mary Ann

I slammed the door to my room in the Luna Wing and twisted the lock with shaking fingers. The click echoed like a gunshot in the quiet space. My back pressed against the solid wood as I slid down to the floor, knees drawn up to my chest. My heart hammered so hard I could feel it in my throat, in my temples, everywhere. The taste of him still lingered on my lipswhiskey and heat and something dangerously addictive.

That kiss.

Goddess help me, that kiss.

I pressed my fingers to my swollen mouth, tracing the spot where Modric had claimed me so thoroughly. It wasn’t supposed to happen like that. It was meant to be anger, punishment, a power play from the man who had once torn me apart with words. Instead, it had been fire. Raw, consuming fire that had burned through every defense I’d built over the years. I could still feel the press of his hard body against my softness, the way his hands had gripped my waist like he never wanted to let go, the deep groan that had vibrated from his chest into mine.

I hated myself for responding.

Even for one moment, I had kissed him back. My fingers had tangled in his dark hair, pulling him closer instead of pushing away. My body had arched into his, my full breasts pressing against his chest, my hips seeking friction I didn’t want to admit I craved. The mate bond had flared so brightly it drowned out reason, flooding me with sensations I’d never known. Heat pooled low in my belly even now, a traitorous ache that made my thighs press together beneath my dress.

“Why?” I whispered to the empty room, tears slipping down my cheeks. “Why did I let it happen?” This was my first kiss. The realization hit me like a fresh wave of shame. All those years ago, as a dreamy–eyed teenager at the Elite Alpha Academy, I had fantasized about this exact moment. Modric Volkovtall, powerful, with those piercing gray eyeswould finally see me. He would pull me close under the moonlight and kiss me like I was the only girl in the world. Younger me had written his name in secret notebooks, heart fluttering every time he walked by. I had wished so desperately for him to be my first everything.

But that was before.

Before the mocking laughter. Before “Fat Luna” became my shadow. Before he and his friends turned my days into nightmares and my nights into tear–soaked pillows. My innocent love had curdled into hate, a protective shell I’d worn like armor ever since. And now here I was, married to him, kissed by him, wanting him despite everything.

curled tighter on the floor, sobbing quietly into my knees. The Luna Wing felt too big, too empty. Servants might be whispering outside, wondering why the new Luna had fled from her Alpha after their first real private moment. Let them wonder. I couldn’t face anyone right now. Not with my lips still tingling and my body still humming from his touch.

I wanted to run. The urge to shift burned through me, wild and desperate. My wolf was usually so eager, especially when emotions ran high. I could almost feel her there, pacing just beneath my skin, but when I reached for the shiftnothing. She refused to come forward. It was like hitting a wall, some invisible barrier I didn’t understand. No matter how hard I pushed, begging silently for the freedom of four paws and the wind in my fur, she stayed locked away. Why? Was the mate bond confusing her too? Or was she punishing me for denying what she clearly wantedhim?

With a frustrated growl, I gave up and pushed to my feet. Hiding in my bedroom it was, then. I paced the spacious room, the beautiful furnishings blurring through my tears. The large bed mocked me with its emptiness. The windows overlooked the forest where I longed to disappear. I changed out of my dress with jerky movements, pulling on a soft oversized sweater and leggings that hugged my curves comfortably. My body felt hypersensitiveevery brush of fabric reminding me of how Modric’s hands had explored my waist, my back, pulling me impossibly closer. couldn’t stop replaying it. The way his tongue had stroked mine, demanding and deep. The low rumble in his chest when I’d whimpered. The undeniable hardness I’d felt pressed against my belly, proof that the kiss had affected him just as powerfully. My cheeks burned at the memory. I was no delicate flower, but in that moment, I had felt delicate in his armscherished almost, despite the anger fueling it all.

“Luna? I brought some tea and dinner,” a servant called gently. “Elder Mira thought you might need it after… a long day.”
