Quickly, it was time to sit and start the second half of the meeting. Marcus reached over and filled the glass in front of me with ice cold water from a pitcher the staff had just brought in during the break.
I ignored it.
My glare was fixed on William.
Even as other’s spoke, I couldn’t stop glaring at the man.
Who did he think he was? What right did he have to Vanessa? She was spoken for. She was mine.
No. That wasn’t right. I scrambled to hold onto my sense, trying to remember.
Vanessa wasn’t Laila.
My heart – and my wolf – weren’t listening.
Eventually, as the vendors took their turns, it became William’s
to speak.
“I have a proposal that I think we should all be satisfied with, m said.
He was a logistics man, in charge of large cargo and how we would physically transport the goods from one area to another. He had a lot of experience. I’d worked with him before and know he was good at his job.

This was a very reasonable response. Any other time, or with any other person, I would have found this acceptable and we would have dug into the nitty gritty of what we could change to compromise and make a proposal that worked for the both of us.
Right now, with him, I wanted to throw the whole thing out. I wanted it gone, and him too. His entire company could go to the hells for all I cared in that moment.
“This route won’t work,” I said. “This many trucks on these roads would cause too much traffic for our regular commuters.”
“We can redirect the route,” William said. He reached into his briefcase and produced another set of maps. “I have some alternate route suggestions –‘
“I’m not finished,” I said, rudely interrupting him. “It’s not just the routes I doubt. These numbers…” I flicked the paper I was holding. On it, all of William’s projection numbers were written. “How did you attain these? They seem inflated.”
“They are projections based on previous sales numbers
