Chapter 484 Cold Company
Joanna activated Power Bestowal and shared the Body of Enlightenment with Leon, along with a compressed transfer of general knowledge and situational context. Remarkably efficient.
Leon absorbed everything almost instantly. He straightened and gave Joanna a slight bow.

“Thank you, my Summoner. You’ve awoken me, and for that, I’ll act as your guardian. Your faithful one.”
“Welcome to the team.” Joanna extended her hand.
Leon stepped forward and took it. It started as a simple handshake, the kind that seals a working arrangement, but then he dropped to one knee and pressed his lips to the back of her hand.
“My reason tells me this is a contract. My heart tells me I’m entitled to ask for something more. I’m your sentinel. I know I run cold, but I promise I won’t ever frost-bite you. Give me the chance to stay by your
side.”
“You have contracted Leon Graham. Leon is loyal to you. You receive a boon from your contracted companion: Vitality +34,000, Strength +34,000, Agility +34,000, Spirit +68,000.
Joanna was genuinely surprised. She’d expected Leon to be reserved, not the type to open with something like that. His talent profile alone suggested he shouldn’t be.
“Contracted Companion: Leon Graham
Race: Human/Ice Phoenix (Interstellar Sentinel. Updated after merging with the Interstellar Universe. New data syncing.)
Rarity: Transcendent
Level: 80
Attributes: Vitality 1,500,000, Strength 1,500,000, Agility 1,500,000, Spirit 3,500,000
Talents: Permafrost Physique, Absolute Zero, Absolute Reason
Skills: Frozen Expanse, Eternal Ice Coffin, Frost Cage, Extreme Cold Domain, Bone-Piercing Chill, Soul Freeze. Absolute Stillness”
So Absolute Reason wasn’t immune to a reasonable case of feelings after all. That actually put him ahead. of Xavier on the emotional range scale, which wasn’t a high bar, but it was something
Joanna was glad. Having a new companion who was already on the same page made everything caster. She always worried about playing favorites, and this helped.
“Ha! Welcome, number nine. Get off the floor.” Lucien materialized beside them, grabbed Leon’s arm, and hauled him upright with a clap on the shoulder.
The next moment, a bone-cutting cold radiated from him. Even the ever-warm Lucien couldn’t bear it and pulled his hand back immediately. Leon’s ice-cold gaze swept toward Lucien.

“I said I wouldn’t frost-bite Joanna. I made no such promise about anyone else.”
Lucien curled his lip, something between a smirk and a challenge.
“You’re a handful, aren’t you?”
“So I’ve been told.”
They stared each other down, and the air between them crackled.
“Come on, you two,” Benjamin said, stepping in. “You’re going to put Joanna in an awkward spot.”
Caspian’s shoulders shook. “Joanna, I think I’m actually cold. Cold enough to cry.”

“If you’re cold, go find Alwyn.” Nighthowl kept a straight face..”Why bring it to Joanna? Then again, I get it. I’m a two-faced schemer myself. I understand you completely.”
Joanna pressed two fingers to her temple. A bigger team really was harder to manage.
Just then, a series of beeps sounded from the spaceship.
Incoming call request: Madness Spaceship.
Joanna’s eyebrow went up. She accepted it.
The voice on the other end was urgent, almost scrambling.
“Who are you? That summoning circle, the aura coming off it, are you a Mythic-level Summoner?”
“I don’t see how that’s any of your business,” Joanna said flatly.
On the Madness Spaceship, the crew was still trying to put themselves back together. After breathing in that Affinity Aura, every pheromone product and Affinity Perfume on the market felt like tap water next to aged whiskey. Flavorless. Pointless.
Some of them were starting to wonder if the woman on that ship was actually Joanna herself.
But Peace Spaceships weren’t exclusive to her anymore. Thanks to her fame, the Peace Tree-crafted vessel had even been patented under her name, and as her signature model, it had become the go-to choice for summoners across the board.
Beyond that, summoning circles all looked the same. The Space Alliance was simply too vast Mythic-level Summoners weren’t unheard of either.
Besides, if this really were Joanna, wouldn’t she have just killed them already?
They didn’t know her well enough to understand that she wouldn’t. Joanna had taken advantage of more than a few people stronger than herself when she had to, but she didn’t bully the weak just because she could.
She respected the law-not out of sentiment, but because fair and consistent rules were the only thing that had ever protected her. The Space Alliance’s system of order had carried her to where she was now. She took that seriously.

The Madness Spaceship crew had refused to pay compensation and assumed a defensive stance, but they hadn’t actually fired after she’d called off negotiations. That meant she had no grounds to move against them, and she wouldn’t.
What she hadn’t accounted for was their greed kicking back in.
What do you mean it’s none of our business? We put resources into this. You just showed up. said contract, and walked off with the Ice Phoenix. Who’s covering what we invested?”
