Fached

Silence slammed the room for a beat, then erupted into shocked murmurs.

Kieran went forward with a proud smile while she stood tall, cold and unrepentant as people peered down at the man groaning on the floor.

I don’t care who you are. Keep your filthy hands off me.” She said, voice low and sharp. Also tell your family to teach you manners.

WowJake exclaimed in amazement. She can fight too.”

Jake exhaled shakily, and then I felt something.

A

presence. A gaze out of the ordinary, and I couldn’t doubt an unmistakable awareness that someone powerful was watching the same girl we were.

Jake stiffened. Do you feel that?

Yes,I answered quietly, and we both turned immediately.

High above, on the fourth floor, a silhouette lingered in the tinted glass, his golden eyes sharp, still, and calculating.

The CEO was here.

He was the Lycan King and was watching her with so much attention.

And suddenly, I understood something terrifying.

We weren’t the ones she needed to fear losing but were the ones who needed to fear losing her.

Because someone far more powerful and dangerous had already seen her.

And he didn’t look away.

My throat dried off as I saw how the Lycan King was watching Fiona, not with his usual cold stare, but with admiration, curiosity and focus. I hated that.

Jake cursed under his breath. Whywhy is he looking at her?

I swallowed, forcing logic into my voice. It doesn’t matter. He can’t be interested in Fiona, and we may be the ones overthinking!I scoffed.

He couldn’t possibly care about someone like Fiona, who rejected her family, tainted her Beta royalty and has yet to develop her wolf.

Lucas was the Lycan King, cursed and feared by every Alpha, and he could possibly pass as the most powerful being alive, but he doesn’t mingle with the affairs of werewolves outside his kingdom.

I tried to convince myself because there was no way I would accept what was creeping into my head. Lucas has no mate, and not only that, his heart is dead, so why was my stupid head thinking there was something he felt for Fiona?

He’s justobserving,” I muttered. Looking at the commotion just like everyone.”

But even as I told Jake this, I didn’t believe myself.

I tore my gaze away from Lucas as a sharp voice cut the music.

Mr Preston! The voice called, and I saw a group of men dressed in black rush toward the blond guy who was yet to recover from Fiona’s hit.

Preston Bell was his name, and I actually knew he was some sort of spoilt billionaire son and won’t let Fiona go scotfree.

He was furious, blood streaking down his head where he had hit on the table after Fiona’s earlier kick.

You bitch!Preston roared, pointing at her. You dare hit me? Get her! Now!

Several of his men surged forward, and Fiona’s bodyguard stepped in front of her instantly, but my breath caught when Fiona lifted a hand.

No, I’ve got this.

She didn’t step back.

She stepped forward.

A shock went through me as I saw she wasn’t scared and wasn’t even hesitant.

The first man lunged.

Fiona twisted, her kick graceful and sharp with a swiftness like one with an inner wolf. I thought she was yet to have her first shift.

Her hit connected with his jaw and sent him sprawling. Then the next swung his fist, and she intercepted him this time and slammed him into a table.

Fiona ducked under another punch, grabbed the man’s shirt, jerked him down, and drove her knee into his side. He dropped with a bloodcurdling scream.

Jake’s jaw almost hit the floor as he stared, eyes widened. She can fight too?

I couldn’t speak.

I couldn’t think.

All I could do was stare because Fionaour Fionawas suddenly fighting like a true Beta’s daughter trained by warriors. Like someone unafraid of anything. Like someone who had gained control of her inner wolf.

Within seconds, Preston’s men were on the ground, groaning and clutching bruises.

Security of the Bar stormed forward at that, grabbing them roughly.

Preston sputtered, Don’t you touch me! I am from the Bell family. My father will shut this place down!

The head of security scoffed. My boss is a close friend of Mr Bell. If he hears you caused trouble hereyou’ll regret it.

Preston paled and growled as they took him away.

I exhaled slowly, stunned at what I just saw.

She doesn’t need help,Jake whispered.

No,” I agreed quietly, but my anger was about how she pretended like I was a stranger. Wasn’t she supposed to at least wave at me?

A man approached hera tall, elegant one with a charming smile and an expensive suit.

Maurice. I could recognise him.

He was the bar manager and close friend of the Lycan King. I watched him bow slightly before Fiona.

Miss, we deeply apologise for the disturbance. All your charges tonight are waived.

He held out a sleek, black card.

This is the Elite Platinum Card of Nightshade Bar. Unlimited entry. Complimentary services. And a $500,000 credit added for the inconvenience.”

Gasps echoed.

Even Jake stiffened. Whatwho gets that kind of card?

Royallevel guests,I murmured, my face burning in anger and frustration. My legs were itching to move forward and tell everyone she was my sister. I wanted to proudly make it public that we were siblings, but shame won’t allow me.

When Lydia falsely accused her, I saw her disappointment and hatred when I covered up for Lydia. I saw her pain and sadness when she left the house and no one tried to stop her. She must really hate me right now.

I watched from the corner as she accepted it calmly, like she had received such things all her life.

Thank you,she said with that smile that could brighten a room. She looked so elegant.

Maurice smiled knowingly. Our doors are always open to you,he said, and my mind flashed back to the Lycan king.

Could it be his way of bringing her close to him? Why would they give her such compensation? It was too much.

This is really so much for us! Thank you!Raina chirped, staring at the card dreamily.

Just days ago, she was humiliated by the Alpha for defending Fiona, and here she was now, living a far better life.

Fiona’s eyes caught me, but there was no shift in her expression as she simply turned away.

She took Raina’s hand and walked gracefully out of the bar, her guard right behind her.

She didn’t look back.

Not even once.

Jake’s voice cracked. Damonshe’s gone.

Wait for me!I seethed before going after her.

Lucas’s POV

From the fourthfloor booth, I watched her silently but intrigued. From when she stepped into the clubhouse to when she danced with that feminine energy. I saw the altercation and how she handled it with strength.

Fiona.” I repeated her name just as Maurice had told me.

Not only did she catch my full attention, but she also possessed something I couldn’t yet tell, but it called at me like a siren under the ocean. I couldn’t keep my eyes off.
