Chapter 15
“I don’t think I am interested.” I said with a loud laughter I could barely control.
How could she think of something like this?
She chuckled. “You haven’t seen him…”
“What does he look like? ” I asked with a giggle, giving her a long stare
“Charming. Handsome enough to make Lydia read to kill to have him to herself to herself, but I feel like you will snatch his soul at first glance once he meets you at the academy.”
“Wow! Calm down. You are not serious…” I burst into laughter again. “I can’t…”
BOOM!
The car jerked violently, and a blinding flash exploded from the left.
The tires screeched, and I could see the security cars behind from the rear mirror getting attacked too.
What? They are ambushing us!
Metal shrieked, and it felt like the world spun.
Raina screamed, yanking me into her arms as the car slammed into the guardrail. Sparks flew, glasses shattered and Kieran cursed sharply, fighting the wheel.
“Hold on!” he shouted.
Another impact slammed our side a second car deliberately struck us from behind, forcing us into a brutal fishtail.
The luxury vehicle wasn’t equipped to withstand continuous assault. It groaned, skidded, and crashed against the roadside.
When the car finally stopped, steam hissed from the engine. My ears were ringing, and my breath fractured.
“K–Kieran?” I gasped.
“I’m fine,” he rasped, coughing. “Raina?”
“I’m alright,” Raina answered, voice trembling, but before we could gather ourselves—

Heavy footsteps began to approach us.
Lots of them, as I could hear the boots hitting the ground and surrounding the car.
Kieran’s eyes sharpened like blades. “Fiona, stay behind me.”

My eyes caught several men emerging from the trees, and with the scent, I could tell some were rogues mixed with hired mercenaries.
Their eyes glowed with greed as they approached.
“The girl,” one growled. “Take her alive and kill anyone who tries to stop you.”
Raina clutched my hand. “They’re after you.”
My pulse throbbed. “Why?”
“She will regret laying a hand on Preston’s son!” another hissed.
Kieran stepped out of the destroyed car first, cracking his neck. “Touch her, and you die.”
The men laughed.
“Oh look,” one sneered, “a little wolf playing protector. Every security is dead, so you better stay out of the way or die too!”
Their laughter died when Kieran snapped the neck of the first man that lunged at him with the speed of a whip.
“Next.”
Three rushed him at once, and he fought like a storm–spinning, striking, ripping through them with savage precision. But there were too many.
More shadows poured from the dark forest, and I could tell whoever paid them was determined to kidnap me. It was that man I kicked in the bar. They paid these men to capture
“Kieran!” I screamed his name in terror when he fell to the ground.
He turned his head, blood splattering his cheek. “Fiona, RUN!”
“No!” I cried, “I can’t leave you!”
Before I could think of what to do next, the men approached the broken door on my side, grinning.

They lunged, but I burst out and kicked the first one squarely, sending him stumbling. But another grabbed my arm. Another grabbed my hair. I fought wildly, but they were all strong, their inner wolves giving them great strength.
They overpowered me, dragging me across the gravel.
“Let her go!” Raina screamed, trying to shove them off, but they shoved her away so hard that she hit the pavement with a cry.
“Raina!”
Rage flared white–hot inside me on seeing her fall, and I swung my elbow into a man’s throat and kicked another’s knee, but there were so many.
Pain shot through my side as they slammed me hard into the asphalt.
“You little-”
One raised his knife. “We will have to give you some deep cuts so you will stay calm!” he growled and was about to slash my arm when a shadow dropped from the trees.
So fast, soundless and predatory.
The man landed between us and Kieran like a phantom carved from darkness, his golden eyes glowing fiercely, and the air seemed to thicken with pressure so heavy that the mercenaries staggered back instinctively.
“What the- who’s-”
They didn’t finish the sentence as he shifted into his big black wolf form. Not entirely wolf, but half human, standing straight.
He was a Lycan. Not any Lycan, but a powerful one.
