Damon’s POV
Finishi
Immediately I saw Fiona won and broke my record, anger swelled in my chest and laid my head on the desk. I stayed there for over thirty minutes before deciding to meet Fiona.
She has to explain where she got this strength from. What was she not telling us?
When I reached her classroom, Shaun was in the middle of a lecture, so I stopped by the window and scanned the room.
My chest tightened as I saw Fiona wasn’t there.
Only Raina.
Oh–hey, Damon.”
A student spotted me first and called out, “Professor Manning, Damon’s outside!”
The room stirred instantly, whispers spreading like sparks through dry grass.
Of course they would gossip.
Today, Fiona was the undisputed star of Orica University Academy. Even Professor Manning couldn’t sto
raising her. He had already posted online, calling her the most remarkable student he’d taught in lecades.
And it wasn’t just that she had broken a record, she had broken mine.
The cruel irony?
We were siblings. The same Beta blood ran through our veins.
No wonder the rumors were exploding–drama stacked on drama. People would be dissecting everything whether I was proud of my rejected sister, or bitter and furious that she’d surpassed me.
Quiet down,” Shaun said firmly. “Self–study for now.”
He stepped into the hallway and closed the door behind him.
‘Damon,” he said calmly, “whatever you need can wait until after class.”
Shaun still believed in me. I could tell.
I had been his prized student back in high school–the one he used to brag about to other professors. Even with Fiona’s sudden rise, he wasn’t ready to cast me aside.
She was becoming popular because she’d won this challenge in a prestigious university filled with wolves from different packs. I had done mine in high school, then graduated into a far less notable academy,
“Professor Manning,” I asked, my voice sharper than I intended, “where’s Fiona?”

He blinked, then frowned slightly. “You forgot? Anyone who clears my challenge doesn’t need to attend class anymore. She’s done for the day–and for the year. She already left.”
My head buzzed. I clenched my teeth as I swallowed hard.
Where did she go without even trying to see me?
And more importantly–why?
Why had Fiona hidden her ability?
Why had she never shown even a fraction of this power before?
Did she leave the family and develop everything we’d mocked her for lacking?
Only a well–trained, tactical royal wolf could defeat Shaun’s beast. Lydia couldn’t. So how did Fiona manage it? How had she changed?
“Damon,” Shaun added, studying me closely now, “isn’t she your sister? Everyone knows she’s the Beta’s real daughter. Don’t tell me you don’t even have her number.”
“I-”
The words stuck in my throat.
Because it was true.
didn’t have it and I never wanted it.
Fiona was the rejected sister. The one who grew into a disruption–a stain on the family name.
If I were brutally honest, there had been a time I wished she’d died.
Or worse.
That she’d never been born at all.
But she transformed now and soon, the pack would start whispering that Fiona was the better daughter. The stronger wolf.
And then they’d demand Lydia’s Beta crown be returned to its “rightful” owner.
This had to be Fiona’s plan to destroy Lydia.
My disgust for Fiona had always been sharp and cold, like a spear–because she was weak, useless and
wolfless.
But now?
I didn’t know what to feel.
“Damon?”

Shaun frowned, clearly sensing the shift in my expression, but he didn’t push.
“I’m sorry, Professor Manning.” I said stiffly. “I shouldn’t interrupt your class. I’ll go look for her.”
Even as I said it, I knew that if I found Fiona now, things would turn ugly. Messy. Humiliating.
But I needed answers.
A wolfless, pathetic wolf like her couldn’t suddenly become a legend.
She hadn’t just grown wealthy–she’d awakened her inner wolf and shattered my record like it meant nothing
She had to explain this.
