She did not even call him Seven anymore.

Veronica could not help feeling a little disappointed. Julian stepped forward.

Quinn immediately stepped back several feet. The scene was almost painful to watch.

Julian seemed to understand what she meant.

“Yes,” he said. “They work for me. After what happened to you on the yacht, I was worried someone might come looking for trouble, so I asked them to keep an eye out for you.”

“That won’t be necessary,” Quinn said. “I appreciate your kindness, Mr. Sterling. But I really cannot trouble you anymore. Please call them back.”

Julian’s gaze shifted slightly.

Veronica could not stop herself from speaking. “Quinn, about Chase…”

“It’s okay,” Quinn said. “Even if this incident does not teach him a lesson, I will still divorce him. Once the divorce is final, there will be nothing tying us together anymore.”

Julian said, “Alright. I’ll have them leave.”

“Thank you.”

Her tone was polite, but distant. Julian’s thin lips moved slightly, yet in the end he said nothing.

“Get some rest,” he said.

After that, his tall figure disappeared through the doorway. Veronica stood there for a second before hurrying after him.

‘I’ll walk you out.”

Once outside, she closed the door behind her and said quietly, “Give her some time. A lot has happened lately. Her mind must be in chaos.”

Julian did not comment. “Go back inside. No need to see me off.”

Veronica sighed. “My marriage is a complete mess, so I’m probably the last person who should give relationship advice,” she said. “But Quinn is a good woman. If… I mean if you two ever do end up together, please don’t make her cry again.”

‘I know what I’m doing.”

Veronica returned to the apartment and saw Quinn standing there awkwardly.

“Quinn, it’s been a long day. You should get some sleep.”

“Veronica… I’m sorry,” Quinn said softly. “Do you think I’m being ungrateful?”

“I understand how you feel, and I respect your decision.” Veronica smiled and gently pushed her toward the bedroom. “You know something? You might be the first person who has ever turned Julian down.”

“He’s a good man,” Quinn said. “But I feel like we live in two completely different worlds. The kindness he’s shown me… I have no way to repay it.”

“Don’t overthink it.” Veronica guided her to sit on the edge of the bed. “Get a good night’s rest. You still

They chatted for a few more minutes before Veronica prepared to return to her own room.

“Veronica,” Quinn called out.

Veronica turned around. “Something else?”

“If it’s possible… I don’t want to see Mr. Sterling anymore,” Quinn said quietly. “If we ever end up somewhere where he’ll be present, could you please let me know beforehand?”
