“I don’t understand any of this,” I whispered.

“You will, soon.” he said simply with a smile and motioned to the others. “Please, come with us. It is not safe here, and it’s an insult to us that our queen is in a place like this. Predators are everywhere.

Predators?

My mind flashed to Lydia, and I wondered if she was the one they were referring to because I had seen how far her hatred could go, in that nightmare. How she burnt me to death with a huge smile of victory on her face.

Somehow I wondered if she knew about this queen position these men were putting on me, and they all looked wealthy, like a group of elite men.

Should I trust them? Five men claiming I was their queen? That sounded like madness, and what if they simply want to lure me into their trap?

But just then the pendant began to glow faintly again and one of them smiled faintly. “It recognises us. Just as it should.”

The knife trembled in my hand as I slowly lowered and dropped it.

“Fine. Let’s go.” I said, taking the pendant, and I could see joy in their faces. “Please leave your cloth bags. You won’t need any of them.”

“Okay.” I smiled, feeling so excited at how they treated me like a special person. Was the moon. goddess blessing me already?

One of them shifted and carried me on his back, dashing through the forest and soon we were in front of a villa.

It wasn’t just a house. It was a mansion and inside were luxury cars parked.

I was stunned to see this expensive modern technology, especially the drones that patrolled the perimeter beside guards armed with enchanted blades.

Everywhere reeked of wealth, but not the shallow kind my family flaunted. This was old power. The kind that didn’t need to boast.

They took me to a chamber lined with velvet and gold; the scent of jasmine and strawberry lingered faintly in the air. I stood awkwardly in the centre while the five men formed a semicircle before me.

He stepped forward and placed a hand over his chest. “I am Maeron and we are the owner of the biggest medicine company in the werewolf world and beyond.”

I swallowed hard. “I don’t even know anything about medicine or herbs. How am I the queen?”

“The prophecy chose you. We are sure there is a reason for that.”

I said nothing as my throat felt tight; his words were too big for me.

Another man among the five, taller, younger, with a scar across his cheek, stepped forward next. “I am Toren, queen and excited to have you with us.”

I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. I thought of the way my family had spat on me for being worthless and now these men had crowned me as their queen. My life was about to change in a

blink.

I could barely process it.

“Why me?” I asked quietly.

“Because you are chosen,” Maeron said again.

My breath caught, joy bubbling inside me. “Without a wolf?” I asked in surprise.

He nodded. “The absence of your wolf had nothing to do with it.”

Wow.

A huge smile slipped from my lips as I nodded.

The others introduced themselves, bowing before they spoke.

“I am Calor,” said a broad–shouldered one with golden eyes.

“I’am Sevryn,” said another with runic tattoos down his neck.

Then the last one who looked younger and more handsome. “I am Keiran, the youngest but I have been assigned to be your personal assistant, Queen.”

They all looked at me with pride, like I was something special and divine. I wasn’t used to being looked at like that.

I wasn’t used to being seen at all, having this control, this power and freedom.

I had been given a second chance by the moon goddess. If Lydia had succeeded in killing me, I

“You have to rest and sleep.” Kieran said and he led me to my room, a grand suite larger than any home I’d ever known. There were silk curtains that had the colour of moonlight, a carved mirror rimmed with gold, and a walk–in closet filled with designer clothes I hadn’t even dreamed existed. On a low table, a brand–new phone gleamed. It was the latest model and also a black card lay beside it.

“For your convenience,” he said softly. “Linked directly to the company accounts. Spend as you wish.”

Wow.. I was speechless.

Outside the tall windows of my room, I could see a garden shimmering with silver roses under soft lights. A beautiful sight.

“This is amazing.” I mumbled in awe, recalling all my life as the unwanted daughter.

There were maids, guards, and servants all assigned to take care of me and that night I slept like

a queen.

By the next morning, I dressed in silk and jewels, seated at a long glass table surrounded by the five men for breakfast.

Kairen hesitated before asking quietly, “Queen… didn’t you live well with your real family? How did they treat you? And how did you end up in that place with your luggage?”

“I don’t have a family,” I said flatly. “Not anymore. From now on, I belong to no one and live for myself.”
