Chapter 356
SLAM! The sound rang out, sharp and loud. The phone dropped right in front of Astrid.
No matter how much Astrid struggled, Violet held her down tight and covered her mouth so she couldn’t
peep.
Just then, footsteps sounded outside the door.
Violet shot Andrea a quick look.
Andrea hurriedly picked up the phone, turned it off, and then turned off the lights. She pulled out the dagger she’d stashed earlier and held it to Astrid’s throat.
Andrea threatened. “If you dare let anyone in. I’ll kill you!”
Someone called out from the hallway, “Hey, Astrid, are you okay in there?”
With the icy blade pressed to her throat, Astrid forced herself to stay calm and answered, “I’m fine. Just getting some rest.”
The person outside walked away, leaving the room in heavy silence for a long moment.
Bathed in moonlight, Andrea couldn’t help herself. She powered up Astrid’s phone, still hungry to drain more cash from it.
Astrid spoke to Andrea and Violet, her voice weary, “Andrea, you’re the only child my youngest son ever had. Just take the money. It’s yours now. Whether you make it out alive, that’s up to your luck.”
Andrea gave her a deadly glare. “Shut up, you old hag!”
Astrid stared at the two women before her, cold as vipers, and a sudden resolve hardened in her heart.
Wherever people like them went, disaster followed.
Astrid thought, I couldn’t just let them slip away like that.
Violet grew more and more anxious the longer they hung around.
She urged Andrea, “Andrea, that’s enough. If we don’t leave now, we’re really screwed!”
Andrea stuffed Astrid’s phone into her pocket. “Mom, let’s go!”
She’d already cracked the lock screen code.
Once they were somewhere safe, she’d drain every last cent from Astrid’s account.
Violet was just about to stand up when Astrid suddenly grabbed Andrea’s leg and yelled for help. “Someone!
Save me

Desperate, Violet grabbed the table lamp and brought it crashing down on Astrid’s head.

Blood gushed down Astrid’s head, but she held onto Andrea’s leg with a vice-like grip, refusing to let go.
At noon, her son and three grandsons had come to talk her into going home, warning her that Andrea might show up.
But she’d ended up in a huge fight with them over Andrea’s situation.
In the end, she’d thrown things and chased them all out.
She never imagined those vicious women would actually attack her.
Astrid thought, ‘I am the one who has brought Andrea, that viper, into the Jordan family. There is no way I could just let her walk away and bring disaster again.
With the last of her strength, Astrid cried out, “Help! Murder!”
“You old hag!” Andrea snapped.
Andrea ripped the table lamp from Violet’s grip and, without hesitation, plunged it straight into Astrid’s neck.
Astrid’s breath stopped right then and there.
Suddenly, footsteps echoed outside again.
Andrea saw that the front door was a dead end.
She shot a look at the window, then grabbed Violet’s hand and begged, “Mom, the front door’s definitely blocked. Only one of us can get out. Please, just take the fall for everything, okay? Say you did it all.”
Violet never thought her own daughter would ditch her when everything was on the line.
Her eyes went red with disbelief as she shook her head frantically. “Andrea, I’m your mother!”
Andrea’s expression turned cold in a flash. “So what if you’re my mother?”
She shot back, “You’ve got no status, no talent, nothing. Why did you even bring me into this world?”
Andrea grabbed Violet’s collar like she’d lost her mind. “Did you ever ask me before you brought me into this world?
“Violet, you owe me for all of this!” Andrea gritted her teeth, her voice cold.
Violet yanked Andrea back, refusing to let go. “You ungrateful little snake! Henry beat the crap out of me, and
I still kept thinking about you! If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be stuck in this mess!”
She clung to Andrea’s arm. “Either we both get out, or neither of us does!”
A cold, vicious glint flashed in Andrea’s eyes.

Suddenly, she covered Violet’s mouth, grabbed her hair, and smashed her head down onto the table.
With just one blow, Violet was out cold, completely motionless.
Andrea didn’t care if Violet was dead or alive. She grabbed Violet’s bag and slipped out the window, making her escape.
Andrea clutched Astrid’s phone and hugged Violet’s bag tight, making a mad dash for freedom when suddenly, blinding lights flared up ahead.
She instinctively raised her arm to block the glare.
When she finally saw who was standing there, her jaw dropped. “Ian?!”
Ian was rocking a dark suit, hands casually stuffed in his pockets, with a squad of bodyguards lined up behind him.
With a wave of Ian’s hand, the bodyguards rushed in and tackled Andrea to the ground.
Just a short distance behind Andrea, the rector of Tranquility Chapel came charging after her with a group of
men.
Andrea shrieked, her voice hoarse with rage, “Ian, this is all on you! You’re behind everything!”
Ian didn’t even bother to look at her as he turned away. “Don’t blame me. Blame your own greed.”
Andrea screamed at Ian, her voice wild and hysterical, “This is all your fault, and your fiancée’s! If that scheming bitch hadn’t lured me back here, how the hell would I end up like this?”
Police sirens blared closer as the Jordan family showed up way too late.
The rector broke the news that Astrid was gone, and the family bolted for her room.
Eric stared at Andrea, blood all over her, his face grim as he walked up to lan.
Ian said, “I’m sorry.”
Eric shook his head. “It’s not your fault. You gave us a heads-up.”
‘I never should’ve blown up at Grandma and walked out like that, Eric thought.
Back at home, everyone was still on edge, talking things over but unable to calm down.
By the time they got there, it was already too late.
Andrea saw Eric and Ian standing together and forced the words out through gritted teeth. “Eric, you idiot! Bet you never saw this coming. The girl you’re into is actually with lan!
