Since they were bringing food to Karla, grabbing takeout from the hotel was definitely a better option than buying random sandwiches downstairs.
"It's no trouble at all," Dane said, already driving toward Claire's apartment complex.
"Get ready, I'm on my way to pick you up."
Claire agreed.
She washed her hair quickly and skipped the makeup, tossing on some sunscreen before heading out.
Seeing her casual look, Dane let out a soft chuckle.
The girl really didn't see him as a man she needed to impress, or maybe it just never crossed her mind to dress up for her fiancé.
But that was fine with him.
It didn't matter if she wasn't into getting all dolled up.
Otherwise, he'd have to spend all his time fending off other guys.
"I was worried you'd be hungry, so I grabbed some crab rolls on my way out. See if you like them."
Dane handed her the packaged breakfast.
Claire hadn't expected him to be so thoughtful.
"Don't tell me you already packed a portion for Karla, too?"
Dane shook his head. "Not yet. Give Karla a call first and find out where she is."
"We'll head back, grab the food, and bring it over."
He had been worried the food would get cold if he bought it too early.
Claire murmured in agreement while taking a bite of a crab roll.
Her hands weren't idle either, already dialing Karla's number.
The call connected quickly, and Karla's voice sounded completely exhausted.
"Karla, where are you? We're going to pick up some breakfast and bring it to you."
Karla hadn't realized it until Claire mentioned food, but now she felt absolutely starved.
"We can just grab a quick bite at the hospital."
Karla had spent most of the night at the police station before finally heading back to the hospital.
She was worried about the press causing a scene.
