Chapter 120

Third Person’s POV
Dominic continued, seemingly oblivious to the tension. “Alpha Archer handed over a massive core project to Ms. Haines to run solo. Talk about a power move.”
Elmer let out a cold, sharp grunt. “Mhm.”
“Since it’s probably her first time leading something this big, she was worried about falling short. Her whole team was pulling crazy overtime all weekend. I heard they were grinding until ten or eleven last night,” Dominic added, sounding impressed.
Elmer’s voice was like ice. “Oh.”
“But seriously, Ms. Haines is dedicated. She isn’t throwing her weight around just because of her ‘special connection‘ with Alpha Archer, and she’s definitely not treating the project like a hobby,” Dominic praised, shaking his head.
Elmer actually let out a dry, angry laugh at that. He couldn’t help his sharp tongue. “Isn’t it more likely she’s so technically behind that she had to drag an entire floor of people down with her just to keep the lights on?”
Dominic blinked, finally catching the scent of gunpowder in Elmer’s tone. He gave an awkward chuckle. “Well, everyone has to start somewhere, right?”
“Maybe,” Elmer shrugged, looking over at Melanie, who was calmly cross–referencing data. “But when our Melanie led her first S–class project, everything went like clockwork. She didn’t have to turn her team into night owls.”
Dominic had dealt with Melanie enough to know her calculation logic and technical dominance were terrifying.
He knew for a fact that in terms of raw power, Melanie was even more formidable than Elmer.
He pivoted quickly. “That’s true. But Ms. Haines has the right attitude. With that drive, and with Alpha Archer willing to pour in all those resources and cold hard cash to train her, her future is definitely looking bright.”
Melanie’s finger on the mouse faltered for a micro–second before she resumed her rhythm.
“Willing to train her“-that meant Archer was using the Atkinson family’s legacy and pack resources to hand–build a golden path to the top for his new favorite.
Meanwhile, she, the actual Luna, was using her own expertise to patch the holes in their project.
Dominic leaned in closer, dropping his voice to a conspiratorial whisper. “You know, Ms. Haines’s team was spinning their wheels all weekend. No progress at all. Then last night, Alpha Archer must have felt sorry for her, because he showed up around seven. He personally smoothed out the core logic for her, and the project finally came back to life.”
“And here’s the kicker,” Dominic said, his eyes dancing with gossip. “Word is, after working late into the night, the two of them just stayed over in the CEO’s private suite upstairs… Apparently, they haven’t even made an appearance yet this morning.”
Dominic ended with a suggestive wink at Elmer.
The veins on Elmer’s forehead started to throb. He suddenly reached out and clamped his hands over Melanie’s ears. “My ears are contaminated! Melanie, don’t listen to this garbagel”
Melanie was speechless.
It was a useless gesture. She had heard every single word.
And when she connected it to the way Camille had naturally answered Archer’s private phone this morning, everything fell into place.
Elmer was about to snap when Camille appeared in their line of sight.

He let go of Melanie and scoffed, “Well, look who’s finally out of bed.”
Dominic saw her too and cleared his throat awkwardly. “Right. I guess they’re up.”

Camille looked refreshed, though there was a hint of fatigue in her eyes that she couldn’t quite hide.
Considering she’d been working overtime for days–and considering she’d spent the night with Archer–Dominic’s suggestive look wasn’t hard to explain.
Camille gave Elmer a polite nod, then turned her focus back to her team as they headed into the conference room.
Melanie and Elmer took a quick break before diving back into the dry ocean of data.
Around lunchtime, as they were debating where to grab a quick bite, Archer’s tall, imposing figure appeared in the doorway.
He scanned the room and saw Melanie, but his gaze swept past her like she was a total stranger. He walked straight into the conference room to find Camille.
The second he walked in, Camille’s team members scrambled to their feet. “Alpha Archer.”
Only Camille stayed seated. She looked up at him, a sweet, radiant smile spreading across her face. “Hey.”
“Mhm,” Archer’s voice was deep and resonant. “How’s the project coming along?”
“Everything’s lined up. I’ve finally got the hang of it.”
“Good job,” Archer praised.
Camille’s eyes sparkled with an intimacy meant only for him. “Well, I owe it all to your ‘guidance‘ last night.”
