Nora took a turn through the forensics department, and by the time she returned to the the bullpen, she was told that Ben had confessed.
“Nathan really has a way with people. He just showed him a photo, and the guy cracked.”
Nora overheard the chatter and curiously leaned in. “What photo?”
Seeing Nora approach, the group exchanged glances and then started evasively changing the subject.
“Oh, no photo. It’s just something Nathan brought out… Dr. Hayes, if you want to know, you should ask Nathan.”
“Yeah, yeah, you should ask Nathan.”
With that, they all claimed they had something to do and slipped away as if their lives depended on it.
Nora was completely baffled.
Was she the plague? Why did everyone run at the sight of her?
Since there was no one left in the the bullpen to ask, Nora decided to find Nathan in his office.
As it turned out, he wasn't there either.
Nora figured he was reporting to his superiors to summarize the case. She was about to leave when she noticed several photos spread out on his desk.
After a moment's hesitation, Nora walked over and picked them up.
“This is…”
Flipping through them, Nora was certain the photos had been photoshopped.
The woman in the photos was unmistakably her—wearing a look of icy disdain that clashed hauntingly with the provocative, revealing clothes.
Someone must have secretly taken pictures of her leaving the precinct and then photoshopped different clothes onto her, creating these inappropriate images.
“Knock, knock.”
Someone suddenly knocked on the door, startling Nora so much that the photos slipped from her hand and scattered on the floor.
Nora scrambled to pick them up, but someone else was faster.
She watched as Nathan gathered the photos, carefully brushing the dust off them.
“Is this evidence?” Nora’s expression changed when she saw how carefully he was handling them.
“I just touched them…”
“It’s fine,” Nathan said. “These are just photocopies.”
