The moment Aaron said this, the entire hallway fell silent.
Behind Nora, the interrogation room became so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
The looks from the people there were a mix of sympathy and pity, which made Nora feel like she was on pins and needles.
She didn’t want to become the subject of office gossip. She gave the two of them an icy glare, her voice filled with undisguised rejection. “Mr. Wells, a decent ex knows how to stay buried in the past. There’s no need for you to parade your new girlfriend in front of me to feel important.”
Seeing that Nora showed no signs of jealousy, only annoyance toward him and Mia, Aaron felt a surge of resentment.
“Nora, what’s that supposed to mean?”
Aaron grabbed Nora’s wrist. “Mia and I made it official, and you’re not even upset?”
Nora really wanted to roll her eyes, but she held back since she was at work.
“Mr. Wells, what nonsense are you talking about? We’ve already broken up. Who you’re with or not with has nothing to do with me. Why should I be upset?”

“Nora!”
Aaron stared at Nora’s completely unbothered face, frustrated and angry. “How long has it been since we broke up? You’re lying to me, aren’t you? Or are you just pretending to be calm when you’re actually dying of jealousy inside?”
Nora gave Aaron a look like he was an idiot.
“Mr. Wells, this is a police station, not a psychiatric ward.”
“Since you’re here, please cooperate with the police and stop talking about your delusions. No one wants to hear them.”
With that, Nora stepped aside to clear the way. “Please.”
Aaron’s eyes widened, unable to believe that Nora was truly unfazed.
“You—”
