She was utterly disappointed in Aaron, but she didn’t want to make a scene.
It would be difficult to explain if Aaron got seriously hurt by Nathan.
Nathan released his grip. Aaron, who had been struggling relentlessly, stumbled backward from the momentum and landed hard on his butt.
The scene drew the attention of several onlookers. Aaron had wanted to cause more trouble for Nathan, but seeing more and more patients and doctors looking their way, he swallowed his pain and scrambled up from the floor to save face.
“You two bastards, I’ll remember this!”
After spitting out the threat, Aaron covered his face with his hand and scurried away.
Nora glanced at Nathan, cringing internally. “Sorry you had to see that.”
Nathan gave her a look but didn’t dwell on the topic. “You should go see your mother.”
Nora nodded gratefully. “I’ll go now.”
She rushed to the emergency room just as the light above the door went out.
“Doctor, how is my mother?”
The doctor, who had known Nora for some time, replied, “The surgery was a success, but the patient’s condition has been unstable recently. She’s been ill for so many years, and her body can’t take this kind of strain. We need to find a treatment plan as soon as possible.”
Nora’s mother’s body was failing.
Years of overexertion in her youth had weakened all her bodily functions.
The biggest problem was her heart condition.
Acquired heart disease had tormented her for years. Medication no longer eased her symptoms, and her physical condition was so poor that she didn't even meet the criteria for a transplant surgery.
Not to mention, a matching heart was next to impossible to find. Nora had waited with her mother for all these years, but no good news had ever come.
“I understand. Thank you, Doctor.”
