Feeling his disgusting breath roving over her back, Nora fiercely blinked back her tears.
Thinking of her mother at home, a sharp glint flashed in Nora’s eyes. As the man started to take off his pants, she quickly snatched a rope someone had hung on the wall, looking for a chance to strangle him.
But a figure moved faster than she did.
Nora only heard a loud thud, and the man was sprawled on the ground, groaning in pain.
Nora gripped the rope, her eyes fixed on the man with feral intensity.
The man’s tall figure slowly turned around. Nora couldn’t see his face clearly, only his silhouette moving toward her against the weak glow of a streetlight.
"Don't be afraid. I'm here."
That was the last thing Nora heard before she passed out.
The memory seemed to overlap with the present moment.
Even the voice in her ear was the same.
In a daze, Nora found herself pressed against the man's chest. Then, her colleagues from the police department flooded into the forensics lab, quickly bringing the intruders under control.
"Let go of me!"
"What right do you have to arrest us?"
"Let us go!"
The furious shouts of Elias's relatives pulled Nora back to reality.
Realizing how inappropriately close she and Nathan were, she quickly pushed him away and took a step back.
Sensing his probing gaze on her face, Nora touched her flushed cheeks and spoke in the steadiest voice she could manage. "Thank you."
