Nora raised an eyebrow.
Was she not allowed to be here?
As if sensing her confusion, Nathan cleared his throat.
He walked over to her, his tone almost explanatory. "Your assistant seemed to be injured."
Nora nodded. "I had my other assistant take her to the hospital. The injury report will be sent over shortly."
"How's the questioning going in there?"
Nathan gestured for Nora to step outside to talk.
She followed him into the long corridor, stopping at the far end.
"Want some water?"
As if by magic, Nathan pulled a bottle of water from his pocket.
Nora paused for a moment before taking it.
"Thanks."
Nathan seemed to smile, but Nora couldn't quite catch the expression on his face.
"Elias's girlfriend went to the Morel family today."
"She's the one who told them that Elias couldn't have committed suicide."
"She showed them their chat history, telling the family how happy Elias was with her and that it was impossible for him to suddenly kill himself. She said something was fishy."
"The Morel family immediately bought it. They became convinced that the autopsy was wrong and that Elias must have been murdered. That's why they came here to cause a scene."
The body of the deceased, Elias, was still in the morgue, so when his family arrived, no one questioned their intentions. That's how they found an opportunity to create such chaos.
"Didn't they see Elias's suicide note?"
"They saw it. They don't believe he wrote it."
Nathan habitually reached for his pocket.
After fumbling for a moment and not finding what he wanted, he clicked his tongue and pulled his hand out.
Nora assumed he was looking for a cigarette.
Many detectives were under a lot of stress and used smoking to cope.
After a moment's thought, Nora pulled a few candies from her pocket and offered them to him.
"Have some candy instead. Smoking is bad for you."
