Nora’s face turned to ice.
She wanted nothing to do with the man. She turned and walked quickly toward the restroom.
“Nora!”
The man, stunned that she had turned and fled at the sight of him, hurried after her.
“Nora, wait a minute!”
Hearing his voice, Nora’s brow furrowed into a tight knot.
The restroom was just ahead. As Nora was about to step inside, the man grabbed her arm.
“Let go!”
Nora forcefully shook him off.
Given his age, the man staggered from her shove, steadying himself against the wall to regain his balance.
Nora stared at him with cold eyes.
She would never forget that face. It was impossible to forget!
He was the one who had so cruelly thrown her and her mother out of the house.
They had endured countless hardships and scorn to finally achieve the stable life they had today.
Nora had been in Luminport City for years, but this was the first time she had run into him.
And this encounter made her realize that her hatred for this man had never faded.
Stung by the coldness in Nora’s eyes, a flicker of hurt crossed Leonard Hayes’s face.
“Nora, why are you looking at your father like that?”
“I was wrong about what happened back then, but we’re still father and daughter.”
Nora let out a cold laugh. “Father and daughter? I thought my father died a long time ago. Besides, someone once said that if my mother and I walked out that door, he shouldn't be notified even if we died.”
“And that he absolutely would not come to claim our bodies.”
Leonard looked down, a guilty expression on his face.
He mumbled, “You still remember all that…”
