Nora was a little stunned by Mr. Adams's words.
It was true that many people had called her a genius forensic pathologist throughout her career.
But Nora never considered herself particularly talented.
She had forced herself to live in the morgue just to desensitize herself.
Everyone said she was fearless in the face of danger, capable of remaining calm and providing a perfect analysis no matter the state of the body.
In reality, only Nora knew that what had kept her going all this time was her desire to bring justice to victims.
She didn't dare to take all the credit or act conceited, so Mr. Adams's special attention made her feel a little uneasy.
Nora felt a bit insecure. "Mr. Adams, you flatter me. I was just doing my job."
"Oh, come on, Nora. You're being too modest."
"Everyone has seen what you can do. Nathan specifically requested you before he was even transferred over, so don't sell yourself short."
"With you two in the department, I have complete confidence in your special task force."
Nora froze, glancing at Nathan with some surprise.
He avoided her eyes, but Nora could have sworn she saw a faint, uncharacteristic flush creeping up the back of his neck.
Just as Nora was about to take a closer look, Nathan suddenly called out, "Mr. Adams."
Mr. Adams grinned. "Hahaha, alright, alright. I'll stop."
He returned to his seat and gestured. "You two, have a seat as well."
Nora hesitated, but then saw Nathan comfortably sit down on the sofa.
After a moment of silence, Nora followed suit.
"Actually, I called you both here today to talk about a competition coming up."
"What competition?"
