Chapter 248

The second we stepped out of the clinic, I knew something was wrong.
Specifically because Camille looked like she was physically holding herself back from exploding while Violet suddenly couldn’t make eye contact with Theo for more than three seconds at a time.
Theo noticed immediately, too. The man narrowed his eyes while walking beside Camille through the parking garage toward the elevators.
“…Why do both of you look guilty?”
Violet immediately looked away. Which honestly answered the question all by itself.
Camille made this tiny choking sound beside her trying not to laugh while Theo pointed directly at them.
“See? That. That right there.”
Camille looped herself dramatically against Violet’s arm. “We don’t look guilty.”
“You absolutely look guilty.“.
“We look radiant.”
“You look like tiny blonde criminals.”
Violet snorted loudly before covering her mouth while Camille outright cackled beside her.
I stayed quiet. Mostly because I was trying to figure out what exactly they hiding.

Theo pressed the elevator button harder than necessary while staring directly at Camille. “What did the doctor say?”
Camille gasped dramatically. “The doctor said lots of things.”
“Theo,” I said calmly, “you’re approaching this emotionally.”
He looked toward me immediately. “Oh don’t do the CEO voice with me right now.”
One eyebrow lifted slightly. “I don’t have a CEO voice.”
Silence. Both Theo and Violet stared at me. Camille physically turned away because she was laughing too hard.

Chapter 248
Okay, so apparently, I have a CEO voice I do…
The elevator doors slid open and we all stepped inside together. Unfortunately for Theo, being trapped in a small enclosed space with two women hiding secrets from him was slowly becoming his personal hell.
He crossed his arms.
“So help me God if one of you told Violet before me….
“I would never,” Camille interrupted immediately.
Violet looked down at the floor so quickly it was almost impressive.
Theo pointed at her immediately. “Violet.”
She blinked innocently. “…Yes?”
“You are physically incapable of lying.”
Her expression looked genuinely offended. “I can too lie.”
A quiet laugh escaped me before I could stop it.
Violet’s head snapped toward me immediately. “…Was that a laugh?”
“No.” It absolutely had been.
The elevator doors opened onto the lower parking level and everyone stepped out. Camille immediately grabbed Violet’s arm and practically dragged her ahead of us toward the vehicles.
Behind me, Theo sighed dramatically. “They’re whispering.”
“They’re absolutely whispering,” I agreed calmly.
Violet glanced over her shoulder. “We

you.
“Good,” Theo replied immediately. “Then stop acting suspicious.”
Camille leaned close toward Violet while they walked ahead of us. Even from several feet away I could tell she was trying
not to laugh again.
Theo looked exhausted already. “They know something.”
They definitely know something.”

Chapter 248
He looked toward me. “Aren’t you supposed to be good at interrogation?”
“I’m good at negotiations.”
“Same thing.”
“Not even remotely.”
By the time we reached the SUVs, Theo looked one inconvenience away from a complete psychological breakdown.
Camille climbed into their vehicle while still smiling like she’d committed several crimes successfully.
Theo pointed directly at her. “We are discussing this later.”
Camille smiled sweetly. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Theo looked toward Violet desperately. “Violet.”
She pressed her lips together so hard I thought she might hurt herself trying not to smile.
I slowly looked between both women. Then finally said, “…I don’t like how both of you suddenly panic every time Theo asks a question.”
Camille immediately pointed at me. “See? This is why billionaires are terrifying.”
Theo pointed too. “No, she’s right. That was weirdly intimidating.”
I genuinely had no idea what either of them meant.
Eventually, we separated with plans to meet later that evening, though Theo still looked deeply suspicious while Camille practically vibrated with hidden information.
The second Violet climbed into my SUV, I shut the driver’s side door and looked toward her. She immediately started pretending to be fascinated by her seatbelt.
Interesting.
I started the vehicle calmly. “What are you hiding?”
She gasped dramatically. “Rowan Ashcroft, I would never.”
One eyebrow lifted slowly. “Violet.”
She sighed heavily while staring out the windshield. “We’re planning things.”

“Mm.”
“Pregnancy things.”
Another glance. “Mm.”
She finally turned toward me. “Camille wants me to help plan the gender reveal and baby shower.”
That actually surprised me slightly. “Oh.”
Violet nodded quickly. “Apparently, she already has decoration ideas.”
“I don’t doubt that.”

“She also threatened emotional violence if I don’t help.”
I considered that for a second. “Considering this is Camille… That’s fair.
Violet stared at me in disbelief. “You’re enabling her.”
“I fear her slightly now.”
Honestly?
It felt strangely nice. All of it. The arguing. The teasing. The ridiculous amount of emotions suddenly surrounding our
lives.
A few months ago, I would’ve hated this level of chaos.
Now?
Now I found myself driving slower because I didn’t particularly want the moment to
end.
About twenty minutes later, I pulled into a waterfront restaurant near the marina. Nothing overly extravagant. Just quiet,
private, and overlooking the water.
Violet looked out the window toward the docks while sunlight reflected across the ocean behind them. “It’s pretty.”
I watched her instead. “Yeah.”
The hostess led us toward a table near the windows while the smell of fresh bread, coffee, bacon, and butter filled the
restaurant.
The second Violet sat down, she looked relieved enough that I almost laughed. Pregnancy hunger was apparently

real thing.
The waitress had barely walked away after taking our order before I pulled the ultrasound photos back out again.
I still couldn’t stop looking at them. A tiny little blur. Barely anything. And somehow it already felt like the most important thing I’d ever seen.
Violet noticed immediately. “You’ve looked at those like fifteen times already.”
My thumb brushed carefully along the edge of the printout. “It’s still weird.”
Her expression softened instantly.
Not weird bad. Just… Difficult to process. Because logically I understood there was a baby.
But emotionally?

Emotionally I was still trying to comprehend the fact that somehow Violet and I had created an actual human being.
The waitress returned carrying enough food to feed several people.
Violet immediately looked emotional over pancakes.
Huge fluffy pancakes topped with strawberries and whipped cream sat beside eggs, hashbrowns, toast, bacon, and fruit.
Meanwhile, my own plate had steak, eggs, potatoes, and coffee.
The second the waitress left, Violet reached over and stole one of my potatoes.
I looked down at my plate. Then at her. ..You have your own.
