The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 134

"Ethan and I are already divorced," she told the maid.

The maid froze, regret written all over her face.

Alaina gently patted the maid's arm to comfort her and instructed softly, "Please make some nourishing soup and try your best to persuade him to eat a little. I'll go check on him now."

The maid nodded.

She went upstairs and pushed open the familiar bedroom door.

A pungent stench of alcohol hit her in the face, stinging her nose.

The curtains in the room were drawn tight.

Ethan was slumped on the sofa, his tie loosened and hanging around his neck. His hair was plastered messily across his forehead, and even his eye sockets seemed a bit sunken.

A dozen empty whiskey bottles were scattered around his feet. Some had tipped over and rolled far away, while others, half-empty, leaned against the sofa legs. The amber liquid trickled down the bottles, blooming into dark stains on the expensive rug.

He was still clutching an unopened bottle in his hand...

Realizing someone had entered, he showed no reaction, as if he hadn't heard a thing. He maintained his original posture, staring blankly at the ceiling. Only his Adam's apple occasionally bobbed as he swallowed the dryness and bitterness in his throat.

Alaina didn't show much emotion on her face. She stepped over the mess on the floor, went into the bathroom to wet a towel, and walked back out holding it.

She crouched down, tossed the empty bottle by the sofa into the trash can, and handed him the towel.

"Ethan, wipe your face and sober up," she said softly. Her voice wasn't loud, but it pierced clearly through the silence, carrying a kind of settled tranquility.

Ethan's unfocused gaze landed on her. He stared blankly for a few seconds before seeming to recognize her.
