The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 141

Ethan Harrington smiled but didn't speak.

He remembered how Alaina had mentioned multiple times that she wanted to bring him back to Rossi County to see her hometown and family.

But when Lily returned from abroad and asked to meet, he canceled the trip.

"Alaina isn't here," Stella offered. "She's living with Silas now."

Ethan's smile froze. He nodded to show he understood.

"Wait a sec." Stella ran back into the house, then came out and slipped a lollipop through the gap in the iron gate. "My parents aren't home, so I'm not allowed to open the door. I can only offer you this candy."

Ethan took the candy, thanked her, and drove away.

Driving along the narrow road out of the county, he ran into some locals herding cows across his path.

He stopped to wait.

At that moment, a man rode a motorcycle past his window, then circled back.

"You're... here looking for Alaina, right?" the man asked.

Ethan neither confirmed nor denied it. He gave a polite smile and was about to roll up his window.

"Wait," the man called out, stopping him. "My name is Toby Hudson. I grew up with Alaina."

Hearing this, Ethan lowered his guard slightly.

Toby parked his motorcycle, leaned against the car window, and lowered his voice. "I can't remember exactly which year it was, probably back in middle school... but we've crossed paths before. Technically, I'm one of the people who saved your life. It's totally normal that you don't recognize me, though. You were tied up in a cabin on that mountain over there. When we rushed in to save you, you were unconscious. But you couldn't have forgotten about that incident, right?"

Ethan froze.

He remembered that kidnapping. When he finally woke up, he was already in the hospital.

The investigating officer told him that it was Lily who had found him and called the police.

Could it be that this Toby guy had saved him alongside Lily?
