The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 179

He didn't rush to explain himself, but instead stated with absolute gravity, "I am drowning in guilt, and I am drowning in regret, but I haven't been manipulated by anyone. I know exactly what I am doing, and I know exactly what I have to do moving forward."

Fiona furrowed her brows, watching as he walked out with a deadpan expression.

Back at The Summers Estate.

Alaina sat in the garden, a lingering gloom clouding her features.

Silas walked over carrying a mug of hot water and sat beside her. He pressed the warm mug into her freezing hands and didn't force her to talk, simply sitting with her in quiet companionship.

Cupping the warm ceramic, she whispered, "If I had just endured it a little longer, Mrs. Harrington might not have passed away so soon."

"Or maybe I should have handled things better. I shouldn't have only thought about myself."

Silas looked at her intently. "Alaina, you haven't wronged anyone, and you owe the Harrington family zero explanations. Mrs. Harrington was a reasonable woman. If she's watching from above, she wouldn't blame you."

Alaina knew that.

But the tears fell anyway, and she buried her face in her palms.

Silas reached out and pulled her into his arms, his hand gently rubbing comforting circles on her back. "Let it all out if it hurts. I'm right here."

Eventually, the heavy, suffocating storm cloud in Alaina's chest slowly began to clear.

She wiped her tears and looked up at Silas.

Silas met the quiet uncertainty in her gaze.

Alaina hesitated, but ultimately couldn't stop herself from asking, "If you want to, can you really turn into anyone you need to be?"

Silas's pupils constricted slightly. He lowered his eyes in silence for a long moment before looking back up, his voice soft. "If this makes you uncomfortable, you can tell me to stop at any time. I will honor your wishes."

Deep down, Alaina knew that in this moment, she was terrified.
