The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 271

Alaina paused her fruit slicing, wondering if she and Silas were actually faking it.

They hadn't even exchanged an "I love you."

Though they had kissed and shared a bed, she had strictly guarded that invisible line.

She didn't find anything wrong with it.

There was an unspoken understanding between her and Silas.

Words like that didn't need to be said, and perhaps shouldn't be.

She wasn't sure if confessing would ruin their comfortable dynamic.

Because of that, she preferred to keep things unsaid.

Seeing her space out, Logan leaned in. "Be honest, what's really going on between you and Silas?"

"What do you mean?"

"You're getting married, and he personally came over to get approval. Do you love him? Does he love you?"

Alaina looked completely serious. "Does it matter if we love each other?"

"Doesn't it?" Logan frowned.

"I used to think it was crucial, but now it doesn't seem to matter at all," Alaina answered honestly. "Take Ethan Harrington, for example. I loved Ethan, and he loved me, but we both paid a heavy price for a love that fell apart."

"This is nice," she added with a smile. "Silas and I don't have any verbal promises, but we genuinely care for each other."

"He always shows up when I need him, protecting and supporting me. Maybe because we haven't thrown the word 'love' around, I don't feel that suffocating fear of losing him. We never argue, and we respect an invisible boundary."

Logan looked baffled but couldn't find a flaw in her logic.

He nodded slowly. "Fair enough. No promises, no strings attached. If one of you strays, the other can just calmly say the partnership is over."
