The silence in the room was terrifying, filled only by the echoes of the man's voice bouncing off the concrete walls, wrapping Silas in a blatant, inescapable threat.
Faced with a nightmare meant to break any ordinary man, Silas didn't even flinch. His eyes were like a frozen abyss, entirely unfazed.
He locked his gaze onto the thickest patch of shadows. His voice was deep and razor-sharp, laced with absolute mockery without a hint of submission. "If you think these cheap tricks will make me sell out classified intel, you're incredibly naive."
The man in the shadows let out a low chuckle, devoid of any warmth, carrying only a bone-deep chill. "Silas, you're the sharpest blade in The Security Administration. You're certainly tough."
"But no matter how sharp the blade, it has a breaking point. And even the hardest bones can be crushed."
The air grew stagnant, the oppressive weight in the basement instantly doubling.
Silas's gaze darkened slightly, sharply picking up on the hidden implication, though his expression remained flawless. "I don't negotiate with cowards who hide in the dark."
"Then take a guess," the man taunted. "Who am I?"
"You're in the top ten of The Security Administration's most-wanted list, widely known as The Archmage." It wasn't a question; it was an absolute statement.
The figure in the shadows visibly stiffened, clearly caught off guard.
After a brief, heavy silence, the man dropped the act.
That raspy voice took on an unhinged, malicious amusement. "Impressive, Mr. Summers. I'd love to know how you figured that out."
With that, he stepped out of the shadows.
