The CEO’s Regret My Ex-Wife is a Tech Goddess novel Chapter 4

She offered a bitter smile and nodded.

Suddenly, her phone buzzed. Mrs. Harrington had sent a text, asking her to come back to The Harrington Estate tomorrow night.-

Mrs. Harrington had always been incredibly kind to her, and Alaina figured it was only right to deliver the news in person.

"The results from my last biopsy never came back. Does that mean it's something serious?" she asked, trying to sound casual, though a sense of dread lingered in her chest.

"No way," Logan replied. "I'll check the system tomorrow morning. Maybe you just didn't get the automated text."

She nodded.

The next morning, she received a follow-up text. When she opened the hospital's app, it indicated her pathology report was ready.

She texted Logan, but he replied that he was heading into an emergency surgery and would have another doctor go over the results with her.

She arrived at the hospital and walked into the consultation room.

The doctor exchanged a few pleasantries but kept hesitating, suggesting she wait for Logan to finish his surgery.

She offered a polite smile. "The results are bad, aren't they? It's fine. You can just tell me straight."

"The biopsy showed cancer," the doctor finally admitted.

Hearing the word 'cancer,' Alaina felt a deafening explosion echo through her brain.

Her senses shattered as if a bomb had gone off right beside her.

The doctor's lips were moving, but she couldn't hear a single word.

Judging by his expression, she knew he was carefully trying to comfort her.

She summoned every ounce of willpower to regain her composure, finally hearing the doctor say:

"Try not to panic. Once Dr. Foster is out of surgery, we'll put together a specialized treatment plan for you."

"Thank you," she forced out a painful smile. As she stood up, she nearly tripped over the edge of the desk, dragging her soulless body out of the room.
