Rebecca, Paulina, and the rest of their group made their way to the second floor.
Halfway up the stairs, they crossed paths with Garnett and Gavin coming down.
The moment Gavin spotted Paulina, his furious expression faltered into something dark and deeply ashamed. He couldn't even meet her eyes.
Seeing him look so utterly defeated, Paulina felt nothing but contempt. Yet, playing the role of the benevolent goddess, she offered him a gentle, forgiving nod. Her lack of visible disappointment only made Gavin's guilt gnaw at him harder.
But when his eyes shifted to Rebecca, his face twisted with raw, unfiltered hatred.
As they passed each other, he hissed, "I'm going to love watching Vantage Point kick you to the curb."
Standing a step above him, Rebecca looked down with an air of absolute indifference. "Prepare to be disappointed."
Gavin dismissed it as another empty boast, too consumed by his own bitterness to care.
Garnett, however, practically beamed at her. "Good luck, Rebecca! I know you're going to crush it!"
He desperately hoped her phenomenal musical talent would bridge the gap of her likely terrible academic scores, giving her a real shot at the title.
Seeing Garnett pledge his loyalty so openly, Paulina sneered inwardly. Backing the obvious loser? What a clueless idiot.
Once they reached the ground floor, Gavin shot Garnett a venomous glare. "Don't think you're untouchable just because you won today. Watch your back. I'm not letting this go."
Garnett didn't even blink at the hollow threat. "I won, but I'm not gloating. I know exactly where I stand, and I know there are countless people out there far better than me. That's why I'm going to keep grinding and climb higher. As for you, we aren't even on the same playing field anymore. I'm not afraid of you."
With his plagiarism exposed, Gavin was finished. He wouldn't just be barred from Apex Academy; he'd be lucky if the general academic block didn't expel him outright.
Shocked that the guy he used to effortlessly step on was now casually dismissing him, Gavin bristled with rage. He wanted to swing at him, but the Dean had assigned a security guard to tail him following the scandal. Throwing a punch now would only expedite his own destruction.
