The Day Silence Spoke novel Chapter 242

And now that Yolanda's shares had all gone to Wallace, they too would end up with Clifford. Once that happened, no one in the Lambert family would be able to threaten his position.

"How do you know?" Renata asked uncertainly.

Santino smiled slightly. "Because Clifford will help you. You're his sister; he won't let you go to prison."

"But he told me to go abroad."

"Staying here amounts to the same thing. Trust me," Santino said with his signature smile, the one Renata could never resist.

"Really?"

"Really."

He caressed her face, his expression warm, though a glint of something sharp flashed in his eyes for a moment. If she left, Wallace was truly finished. It seemed there was no longer a choice to be made. He had to use Yolanda's death to save Wallace. Otherwise, once Clifford gained control of the Lambert family, he would have no chance of winning. Whatever his feelings about Wallace, the enemy of his enemy was his friend.

Renata felt a wave of relief wash over her. She buried her head in Santino's chest again, as if it were the only place she could find comfort.

"Then let's move out of the main house."

"Alright."

"We'll move as soon as the rain stops," she added.

"Okay."

He agreed to whatever she said. Renata had grown accustomed to it; Santino never seemed to refuse her in these small matters, except for the occasional times she asked him to stay home from work.

...

The rain poured down all day.

She was woken again by a knock on her bedroom door. She rubbed her eyes, put on a robe, and went to open it.

Ziven stood outside. "Ma'am, I've brought your dinner. Would you like to come downstairs to eat?"

Latisha nodded. She stepped out of her room, but instead of heading downstairs, she went to the study and knocked on the door. When there was no response, she pushed it open and went inside.

Ziven stood behind her, looking puzzled. "Ma'am, what are you looking for?"

Latisha turned to him and signed, *I'm calling him for dinner.*

Ziven frowned. Though he couldn't understand her signs perfectly, he had a good idea of what she meant. "Didn't Mr. Lambert leave? He didn't tell you?"

Latisha froze. It took her a long moment to process his words. Right. Clifford had gone out. She'd forgotten.
