Parker stared at her in disbelief. "I just want to stay in one of your guest rooms so it's easier to see Maddie. I won't even bother you. Is it really that hard to agree to such a simple request?"

Cassidy firmly refused.

She had a gut feeling that letting him move in would be easy, but getting him to leave would be a nightmare. She couldn't open that door.

The two broke into a heated argument.

The housekeeper standing beside Cassidy had been hired by Mrs. Quincy. Seeing the situation spiral out of control, she quickly notified Bridget.

"Does none of that mean anything to you?!"

"Maddie just got discharged, and all I wanted was to spend a little more time with her. But your first instinct is to demand a divorce and kick me out on the street! What do you take me for?!"

"Do you even care about Maddie half as much as I do?!"

"I already said we could wipe the slate clean! I've done everything I possibly could, and if you still feel like I owe you, I can spend the rest of my life making it up to you!"

"Isn't this all about the shares? Grandpa won't let me hand them over, but I don't care! I'll give them all to you right now!"

"Do you look down on me that much? You won't even give me a chance. You just had my mother try to force me to sign the papers!"

"Let me tell you something, Cassidy. Don't push me to the edge!"

"Maddie is my daughter. Even if we divorce, she's coming with me!"

Parker stood at the edge of Cassidy's bed, shouting for a long time.

Cassidy didn't say a single word in return.

Eventually, the bodyguards dragged Parker away.
