Chapter 150: Visions and Revelations

EIRLYS’ POV

The rich aroma of smoked meat curled through my dreams until it tugged me awake. I stretched languidly, my body reluctant to surrender the cocoon of warmth the blanket

offered.

When my eyes fluttered open, the sight startled me into a gasp. Sunlight already blazed high, golden rays pouring through the window and drenching the chamber in brilliance. It was nearly noon. Gods-I had slept far too long.

I pushed myself upright, rubbing the sleep from my eyes, until my gaze found Kierygan.

He sat at a table not far from the bed, his head bent over parchment, quill in hand. He was utterly still, save for the movement of his wrist, his expression carved in that calm, cold focus he wore whenever he was buried in work.

As though sensing the weight of my stare, he lifted his head. Our eyes met. “Good morning,” he greeted.

“Why didn’t you wake me?” My voice rasped, rough with sleep.

His expression softened, though his tone remained laced with its usual sternness. “Because you needed it. You’ve hardly rested since the wedding. And yesterday was… harder than most.

I swallowed at the memory of those roots, the darkness, and The Light Reaper’s claw. Before the thought could drag me under, Kierygan gestured toward the small table at my side. “Eat.”

I did as he told me, tearing off a piece of bread and nibbling until my stomach remembered it was hungry.

“You don’t need to rush,” he said after a moment, watching how hungrily I tore into the food. ” You have nothing pressing today. Except… Ulyanna mentioned she wanted a word with you. And later, we’ll be seeing off King Lucius and Prince Draven before they return to Morvanya.”

I lowered my cup, meeting his gaze. “So that’s nothing pressing?”

His mouth twitched, the faintest ghost of a smile. “They can wait.”

Once I’d finished eating, Kierygan gave me space to bathe and dress. When I was ready, we went downstairs together to see what Ulyanna wanted. We found her in the infirmary with Evander and Scylla.

Ulyanna stood in the center of the room, her expression sharp, as if Evander had just earned himself a scolding. He only lounged on the bed, legs crossed, smiling up at her like it was all a game. Scylla sat nearby in a chair, arms folded, watching them with cool detachment.

All three turned at our arrival. Whatever tension had filled the room, it eased into something like relief.

“You wanted to see me?” I asked Ulyanna.

Before she could answer, Evander lifted his voice in a lazy drawl. “I told her I was fine. She’s been probing me since the moment we returned.”

“You’re not fine until we say so,” Ulyanna snapped back, her tone brisk, her hands already lifting toward his chest. “Would you rather carry a trace of dark magic festering inside you without knowing? Or shall we simply wait until it consumes you?”

Evander only smirked, unbothered. “You worry too much. Scylla already searched me, every inch of me, last night. More than once, if I may add.”

Scylla rolled her eyes, muttering, “Idiot.”

Ulyanna lifted a finger to silence Evander before turning to me. “Eirlys,” she said, her gaze sharp, “I’d like you to do a final sweep on him. Just to be sure nothing was missed.”

Evander scoffed, tossing his head back dramatically. “Really? I’d know if something were wrong with me.”

Before I could respond, Kierygan’s voice cut through the room, low and edged with steel. Your brain is your only redeeming quality, Evander. If it’s compromised, you’re useless. Sit down, shut up, and let her check you.”

Evander blinked, momentarily caught off guard, then lifted his hands in mock surrender. Alright, alright. No need to get beastly.” He lowered himself back onto the cot, though his smirk remained firmly in place. “But for the record, aside from my excellent brain, I happen to possess a long list of exceptional qualities.”

Ulyanna let out a long, weary sigh. “I can’t decide if Morwenna scrambled your brain thoroughly, or if it’s simply that you finally got laid after far too long, and now you’re insufferable.”

Scylla chuckled under her breath, but I stepped forward before the banter could spiral further. Resting a hand gently on Evander’s shoulder, I let my glow spill into him. The light pulsed outward in steady waves, threading through the seams of his body. His skin shivered faintly beneath the touch, but no darkness stirred within him. No lingering curse. No hidden shadow. Only Evander, whole and himself again.

After a while, the glow dimmed, and I let my hand fall away. “He’s fine,” I said, glancing at Ulyanna. Relief colored her sharp features, though she only nodded.

Evander took the hand I’d rested on his shoulder and lifted it to his lips, pressing a light, appreciative kiss to my knuckles. “Thank you, Snowdrop.”

Then, in one fluid motion, he rose to his feet and nudged Ulyanna with his elbow, a grin tugging at his mouth. “Satisfied?”

Ulyanna shot Evander a long, disapproving glance but said nothing.

Kierygan cleared his throat and spoke. “It’s time.” He gestured toward the doors. “King Lucius and Prince Draven are about to depart.”

We stepped out of the infirmary together, the palace corridors gleaming faintly in the morning sun. Outside, the vampire royals waited.

Evander approached his father and brother first, bowing slightly. “Thank you,” he murmured, quiet but earnest. “For helping with the rescue.”

King Lucius offered only a faint, approving nod. “That’s what family does,” he said simply.

Prince Draven, however, lingered a moment longer. His eyes shifted toward Scylla, and a small, easy smile tugged at his lips. “Speaking of family,” he said, and before anyone could react, he pulled her close, pressing a gentle kiss to her temple.

“I was beyond happy to meet you,” he added, voice warm, tinged with something deeper,

almost reverent.

Evander’s expression darkened immediately, a shadow passing over his features.

Prince Draven chuckled lightly, clearly noticing Evander’s reaction. “Before you jump to conclusions, little brother,” he said, teasing, “Scylla here helped me track down my

descendants.”

Evander blinked, confusion clouding his gaze. Even I struggled to understand-vampires could not procreate.

Draven’s voice softened. “Before we were turned, I fell in love with a witch. She was going to have my child. But after our family was… corrupted, I couldn’t risk harming her or the baby. Back then… we had little control over our hunger.”

He paused, letting the words settle. “I came back for them, but they were gone. I searched endlessly. Yessenia was a gifted witch, a seer. Masterful at covering her tracks.”

“When Scylla came to Morvanya,” he continued, “something about her struck me as familiar.
