Chapter 144 Begging

With a thud, Margery stumbled and fell to the floor, caught off guard.

Stefan’s face was cold, his voice idy.

“Throwing yourself at me now? Trying to force yourself on me? I never realized you had this side to you-this desperate.”

Margery’s voice was stubborn, defiant.

“If it means staying by your side, call me desperate, call me shameless-I don’t care.”

“Unbelievable.”

Stefan shook his head. He was done with this. He stepped forward, ready to leave.

But Margery lunged again, wrapping her arms around his legs. “Stefan, don’t go. Don’t leave me. I just want to talk-can’t we at least do that?”

“Talk?” Stefan almost laughed. “You call this talking? This is more like a bitch in heat.”

“Fine. If I’m in heat, it’s only for you. Only you make me like this. Stefan, I know you’re engaged to Sara. I won’t interfere. Just please don’t leave me.

“I’ll be the homewrecker. Your side piece. Whenever you want me, need me-I’ll come running. No strings attached. No expectations. Can I?”

Her eyes were swollen with tears as she looked up at him. The powerful CEO act was completely gone.

“No.” Stefan shook his head.

Margery bit down on her lip so hard it drew blood.

His cold indifference crushed her-but it also confirmed something. Before, when they were together, his kindness wasn’t because The wanted her body or her money. It was because he genuinely loved her.

She just realized it too late.

“Then tell me what I need to do. What can I do? I swear there’s nothing between Fidel and me. Why won’t you believe me?” Margery wasn’t giving up. Knowing Stefan had once loved her so purely only made her refuse to let him go.

Stefan lit a cigarette and took a drag.

“I do believe you. I believe nothing physical happened between you two.”
