The Ex-Con Who Conquered the World novel Chapter 161

Chapter 161 You Cheated!

His hands looked steady-the kind of steady that worked just as well with a gun as it did with a knife.

Xaver usually stayed in the background. He only stepped in when someone skilled showed up at the casino.

When Damian saw Xaver walk over, he smirked to himself. He knew they had this in the bag.

“Sir, still want to play Big or Small?” Xaver looked at Stefan, his expression calm.

“Yeah.” Stefan nodded.

By then, Damian had already ordered his people to cash out all of Stefan’s winnings-a cool one hundred fifty million dollars.

At first, Stefan had been betting ten million dollars a pop on simple Big or Small rolls.

He lost five times in a row.

Damian grinned at that.

Zora had already pulled up a chair. Damian settled into it and took a long drag from his cigar. “Mr. Bryant, don’t get discouraged. Maybe your luck will turn on the next one.”

“Discouraged?” Stefan looked at Damian like he was an idiot. “I lost fifty million dollars. So what? I’m still up a hundred million. Why would I be discouraged?”

Damian’s face went red. Rage exploded in his chest, but he had nowhere to put it. It choked him.

Fine, kid. Just wait. Let’s see how long you can keep that attitude up.

Damian’s jaw tightened, and he stayed quiet.

“You know what, though? You’re right about one thing. My luck’s about to show up,” Stefan smiled casually.

He watched Xaver finish shaking the dice cup and pushed his entire hundred-million-chip stack onto the total sum of 10.

If the three dice added up to ten, Stefan won; the payout was six to one.

Damian shot to his feet. He wasn’t looking at the table anymore. His sharp eyes locked onto Xaver.

Xaver’s face didn’t change, but there was something cold in the look he gave Stefan.

He always kept both hands on the table after shaking the cup. This time was no different.

Stefan blew out a lazy stream of smoke, looking completely unconcerned.

Truth was, those first five bets were just Stefan testing the waters, figuring out how Xaver worked.

After five rounds, he had it. Xaver was using some kind of controlled force to quietly flip the dice after the cup landed.

For Xaver to pull that off, he had to be a high-level cultivator in the Hidden Sect Realm.

But to Stefan, it was nothing.

Xaver’s face stayed blank, but his eyes were full of confidence. His hands rested on the table, pushing that subtle energy toward the dice cup.

This kid’s got some skill. He called the number outright. Can he hear the dice?

Doesn’t matter. Not against me. You’re not winning this. Flip.

Xaver pushed his energy again, trying to rotate the dice inside the cup.

It has worked five times in a row. No reason it won’t work now.

Then Xaver froze. He suddenly realized that the subtle force he had secretly unleashed seemed to have encountered a layer of… an energy shield.

Compared to whatever was blocking him, his own power felt tiny. It just vanished without a trace. The dice didn’t move.

Flip! Flip! Flip, dammit!

Xaver screamed inside his own head. He pushed harder, sending wave after wave of energy toward the cup.

Sweat started beading on his forehead, but nothing changed.

No. No way. He’s too young. There’s no way he blocked me.
