Killian's expression remained icy, offering not a single word in response. It was impossible to tell if he had even absorbed her advice.

"Even if you want a divorce, you need to play the long game. Don't forget, your position isn't completely secure yet."-

"If you really can't stand her, just wait another two years. Once your power is solidified and Con is a little older, then the two of you can end it."

The Quincy family had two main branches. Killian had an uncle with two sons, the younger of whom was Eleanor's absolute favorite.

After Killian's grandfather passed away, Eleanor had genuinely considered letting her youngest grandson inherit the family empire.

Fortunately, Killian had acted with ruthless precision, exiling his uncle's family abroad and shattering Eleanor's plans.

It was during that turbulent period that Jillian had married Killian.

"Got it," Killian said impatiently, standing up.

"Hey..."

Before Sienna could even finish her sentence, she could only watch helplessly as Killian walked away.

A look of resentful sorrow flashed in her eyes. This boy had never been close to her, even as a child.

Having failed to catch any fish, Connor announced he was going to find Eleanor.

Jillian let the servants escort him back. As she stood by the waterside pavilion, she suddenly heard a voice on the phone.

Turning her head, she spotted Killian through the tall reeds.

The reeds swayed in the wind. Dressed in a sharp black suit, his flawless features made him look like a cold, elegant ink wash painting as he casually pinched a cigarette between his fingers.

"I'm not surprised," he murmured.

A coy, teasing voice echoed from the phone. "Oh, stop it!"

"Because you've always been exceptional since we were kids. So, I'm not surprised at all that you achieved this."

The woman on the other end seemed delighted by his coaxing.

Jillian dug her nails into her palms, a suffocating wave of despair cresting in her chest.

So he did know how to sweet-talk a woman. He knew how to utter such honeyed words.

Whatever the woman said next, Killian actually pressed a gentle kiss against the screen of his phone.

Jillian was stunned, feeling as though she had been struck by lightning.

She had never imagined Killian was even capable of such a gesture.

"And then?"

His face was blurred behind the smoke, but his predatory gaze pierced through, hitting her straight like a blade.

Jillian forced a bitter smile.

What else could she do? Throw a tantrum and roll on the floor? If she did that, how would she be any different from those hysterical, cast-aside housewives?

Besides, it would only make Killian loathe her even more.

"Nothing," Jillian replied.

Just as she turned to leave, Killian's voice sliced through the air behind her.

"If you want a divorce, come to my office at ten o'clock next Monday morning."

Jillian froze in her tracks. After a long pause, she simply said, "Okay."

The fingers holding the cigarette faltered slightly. Killian turned to stare at her retreating back, clearly not expecting her to agree so readily.

"Make sure you're on time. I hate waiting."
