The Extraordinary Bride Of The Wyndham Family (Isla and Gabriel) novel Chapter 230

Dora had been rushed to the hospital, and now the house was quiet again.

Inside the bedroom, Isla stood with Aurelian. The night felt heavy, pressing down on her chest. Aurelian sat on the edge of his parents’ bed, his small feet barely touching the floor, watching his mother as she paced back. and forth across the room.

Isla couldn’t speak properly. Every time she tried, the ugly scene replayed in her mind-Dora screaming, crying, and groaning in pain on the floor. The pain her son had somehow been blamed for.

What exactly had happened?

And why?

Isla finally stopped pacing and turned to her son. It was the middle of the night, yet Aurelian looked calm. He didn’t look shaken. He didn’t look scared either. That calmness only made the anger boiling inside her grow hotter.

“Start talking. Now.”

Her voice came out sharp.

Aurelian flinched. He stared at his mother, surprised. She had never spoken to him like this before. Never has she looked at him this way. Instead of fear, a strange curiosity flickered in his eyes.

Finally… she was angry at him.

“I don’t know,” he replied quietly.

Isla scoffed. For the first time since becoming a mother, she doubted her son.

“What do you mean you don’t know?” she snapped. “Do you think I’m stupid?”

“Mom…” Aurelian’s voice trembled. “You’re scaring me.”

Isla froze.

Scaring him?

Since when did Aurelian ever feel scared? This was a boy. who barely cried, who always looked older than his age, who faced everything with an unsettling calm.

She exhaled slowly, forcing herself to calm down. Her shoulders dropped. Her voice softened.

“What I’m asking,” she said carefully, “is what happened to Dora in your room. Did you set that trap?”

“No,” Aurelian answered immediately. “I didn’t set anything. And I don’t know what happened to her.”

Silence filled the room.

Isla searched his face, trying to find a crack, a lie, anything. But there was nothing. Just honesty. Then Aurelian spoke again.

“Mom… shouldn’t you be asking why Dora was in my room that late?” he asked. “Why was she there in the first place? Isn’t that strange?”

Isla’s anger faded completely.

He was right.. She hadn’t even thought of that.

Why was Dora in her son’s bedroom at that hour?

That alone was suspicious.

“If you really want to know the truth,” Aurelian continued calmly, “we should check the CCTV footage. Then you’ll see what happened.”

That was all it took.

Isla’s eyes filled with tears. She rushed forward, dropping to her knees in front of him. Her hands wrapped tightly around his small body as if she was afraid to let go.

“I’m so sorry,” she whispered, kissing his cheeks and forehead again and again. “I’m sorry for doubting you.

Please forgive me. I should have known better.”

“Mom?” Aurelian asked softly. “Why are you crying?”

Isla let out a shaky laugh and pulled back. She looked at him properly now.

He was just a child.Yes, he was intelligent. Yes, he was calm beyond his years.

He carried the same sharp presence as Alfred Wyndham.

But still—he was just a little boy.

And she had almost forgotten that.

Guilt washed over her at that moment. And she promised herself never to doubt her children again.

***

Later that night, after Aurelian had fallen asleep, Isla sat alone and watched the surveillance footage.

What she saw shattered her.

The boy woke up immediately. His eyes squinted as he adjusted to the light. When he finally focused, he saw his class teacher standing right in front of him.

“Why are you sleeping in my class, Aurelian?” Miss Norris asked calmly but firmly. “You weren’t paying attention to anything | taught today.”

“I heard everything, Miss Norris,” Aurelian replied in his usual calm voice.

Miss Norris paused.

She was new. She had only joined the school a week ago, and she barely knew Aurelian. To her, he looked like just another child making excuses. She assumed he was lying.

She decided to teach him a lesson.

Miss Norris stepped away from his desk and turned to face the class.

“Class,” she said, “Aurelian is going to tell us the last information | just shared. Please listen carefully to Aurelian Wyndham.”The room buzzed with excitement.

Some students cheered. Others laughed loudly. Damian grinned, already expecting Aurelian to embarrass himself.

Aurelian slowly stood up from his seat and walked to the front of the class. His steps were calm, unhurried. When he reached the front, he turned to face his classmates.

Without hesitation, he spoke.

“Tomorrow, Maryland School will be having a friendly match with us. I hope you are ready.”

The classroom went silent and every laughter stopped immediately.

No whispers. Nothing.

Miss Norris froze.

The students stared at Aurelian in shock. Damian’s smile faded instantly.

Aurelian didn’t wait for praise or approval. He simply turned around, walked back to his desk, and sat down as if nothing unusual had happened.

Miss Norris stood there, stunned.

Once again, Aurelian had done something that didn’t make sense to the people around him.

Yes, he had been sleeping. And yes, he had heard everything.

That was simply the way Aurelian Wyndham was.
