There are people in this world who cannot walk freely like others. One of those people is the Wyndham family – especially the heirs of the family.
They are known. watched. And they are valued in ways that are dangerous.
To money-hungry people, families like the Wyndhams are not human beings. They are prices. They are targets.
Capturing even one member of the family is like winning a fortune overnight.
That is why Isla and Gabriel’s children are not like other children.
They cannot walk freely, even if they want to. They couldn’t laugh loudly in public without proper protection. They cannot move around the world without eyes following them.
And today, danger followed them quietly.
Immediately after the children left school, a group of thieves began to trail their convoy. They kept their distance. They blended into traffic. And unfortunately, the bodyguards did not notice them.
Now, here they were.
Outside the upscale sweets shop.
Surrounded.Six armed men stepped forward from different directions, blocking every possible exit. Their movements were confident, planned, and bold. Guns were visible. There was no attempt to hide their intention.
“Well, well, well,” one of them spoke, clearly the leader. A crooked smile rested on his lips as he raised his gun slightly. “Isn’t this our lucky day?”
The air froze.
And immediately, the bodyguards reacted.
Four trained men stepped forward, positioning themselves instinctively in front of the children. Guns were drawn and pointed at the armed gang without hesitation.
Six against four.
But numbers were not the real problem.
The real problem was the children standing right behind them.
The distance between the threats and the kids was too close, and too dangerous. One wrong move, one careless shot, and everything would be lost.
The bodyguards’ minds raced.
How do they move the children to safety without triggering a shootout? How do they protect them without firing a single bullet?Behind them, fear finally set in.
Elara’s small hands trembled as tears filled her eyes.
Sebastian’s Lips quivered as he clutched his sister’s sleeve, his game long forgotten. Panic began to rise.
But Aurelian reacted immediately.
He pulled both of them closer to himself, wrapping his arms around them protectively. His small body shifted instinctively, shielding them from view – like an adult would. Like someone who understood danger far too well for his age.
The gang leader laughed again, amused by the scene.
“Just hand the children over,” he said casually. “And we’ll let you walk away alive.”
The head guard narrowed his eyes.
“How about you save yourself before it’s too late?” he replied coldly.
The gang burst into laughter. They thought they had already won.
This part of town was supposed to be crime-free. But greed makes people reckless. These men believed the reward was worth the risk.
Sebastian’s sobs grew louder. Elara buried her face into Aurelian’s chest, crying softly.Aurelian tightened his hold on then.
He didn’t cry, he didn’t shake. His eyes stayed sharp and alert as he watched every movement.
And just then, something happened in a flash. It was so fast that no one had time to react.
Loud shouts echoed.
“Drop your weapons!”
Before the gang could even turn their heads, multiple armed officers surrounded them from all sides. Guns were knocked out of hands. Men were slammed to the ground.
Handcuffs snapped shut one after another.
The six armed men were disarmed and restrained within seconds.
The danger ended as suddenly as it began.
Police patrol units have arrived and they have done their job perfectly.
They had been monitoring the area as part of their routine security checks. They saw the suspicious movement. And they acted immediately.
Relief washed through the scene.
The bodyguards lowered their guns slowly, breathing out hard. One of them glanced back to check on the children.Sebastian and Elara were still crying, shaken and terrified The fear had finally found its way out.
But Auretian-Aurelian was calm.
He held his siblings tightly, rubbing Elara’s back gently, whispering something low to her. His eyes stayed on the arrested men, watching as they were dragged away.
There was no fear, or any tears in his eyes. Only quiet focus.
The police began clearing the area, ensuring there were no more threats. Shoppers who had hidden earlier slowly stepped out, whispering among themselves.
The children excitedly told their parents everything that happened at the sweets shop – how they weresurrounded, how scared they were, and how the police arrived just in time to save them.
Isla listened with her heart in her throat.
The thought of her children standing in danger without her or Gabriel there made her chest tighten.
“When I got scared,” Sebastian said, laughing now that it was over, “Elara was also scared, and we cried like babies.
“Yes,” Elara nodded quickly. “But Aurelian was there. He protected us. He acted like an adult.”
Aurelian remained quiet, eating calmly. A small smile curved on his lips, but he said nothing.
Gabriel watched his son closely.
His chest swelled with pride.
There was no doubt in his mind anymore. Aurelian would do well. The responsibility of the Wyndham family would one day sit on his shoulders, and he would carry it with strength.
Isla reached out and gently ran her fingers through
Aurelian’s hair, pride shining in her eyes.
“Mom,” Aurelian said softly, “please stop treating me like a child.”
Isla laughed, her eyes warm. “You are my child,” she replied. “And even when you grow old, you will always be my little boy.”
Laughter filled the table, easing the remaining tension, and they continued eating together like a normal family
– safe, whole, and together.
Then Aurelian spoke again.
“Mom. Dad. I have a request.”
Gabriel immediately set down his cutlery. Isla did the same. Sebastian and Elara, however, were still focused on their food.
“The officers who saved us today,” Aurelian continued calmly. “I want you to compensate them. I already have their identities.”
Isla and Gabriel exchanged a quiet look.
Pride filled their hearts.
Even though their son was only a child, his sense of responsibility and gratitude surpassed that of many adults.
And as parents, they could not have been prouder.
