Maureen sat up a little straighter, lips painted fire-engine red, and shot Ella a smug smile. “Don’t get jealous, Ella. Doctor E is my boyfriend, and we’re getting married soon.”

Ella just nodded. “So your wealth multiplied ten times, huh? Where’s all that extra money? Did Doctor E ever tell you when you’d actually see it?”

Grandma Jill hesitated for a second. “Well…”

“So he didn’t say,” Ella replied. “If the money isn’t in your hands, Doctor E can say whatever he wants. I’ll say it again. He’s a scammer, and you’d all better watch out.”

Maureen’s face turned red. Her boyfriend, Doctor E, was her one big claim to fame, and she wasn’t about to let anyone badmouth him. “Ella, you’re just jealous. You wish you had an amazing boyfriend like Doctor E too.”

Jessa piped up with a mocking smirk. “She’s not just jealous of you, Maureen. She’s jealous of me, too. Because I have David.”

Right as Jessa finished talking, a deep, smooth voice cut through the air. “What are you all doing?”

Ella looked up. David stood there, tall and steady, watching them all.

Jessa wasted no time looping her arm through his. “David, you’re here. We were just chatting with Ella. She’s super envious of me and Maureen. Maureen’s got Doctor E, and I’ve got you.”

Ella rolled her eyes. “Jessa, those are your words, not mine.”

Rachel jumped in, grinning. “Ella, it’s nothing to be embarrassed about. We know you are jealous of Jessa and Maureen. Just admit it.”

Ella shook her head. The Irvine family got weirder by the day. “I don’t need to be jealous of anyone. I have a boyfriend. In fact, I’m here shopping with him today.”

Ella glanced up just in time to see Wyatt walking back toward the group, looking as handsome as ever. He must have finished his call.

She let her eyes sweep over everyone’s faces, then flashed a bright, confident smile. “Since you’re all so curious about my boyfriend, I guess you should meet him. There he is now.”

She nodded in Wyatt’s direction.

Everyone turned to look where she was looking, and absolutely froze when they saw Wyatt coming their way.
