“Maureen, do something! Please.” Peter’s voice was shaking.

Logan and Ruby looked like they were about to cry. “We lost everything too. Don’t you think we’re freaking out? We all got scammed.”

Grandma Jill was beside herself, slapping her thighs over and over again. “It’s over. Everything’s ruined. What are we supposed to do now?”

A court official stepped up. “You need to leave. Please don’t get in our way.”

Grandma Jill tried to stand her ground. “I’m not going anywhere. This is my home. I’ve lived here for decades. This is the Irvine family house. I dare you to try and kick me out.”

One minute later, two staff members carried her out anyway. The rest of the second and third family branches were dragged along with her.

Jessa snapped, “Don’t touch me. I can walk. Let go!”

She yanked her arm free, but as soon as the staff members let go, she lost her balance and landed hard on the ground.

Grandma Jill sat in the dirt, wailing. “What are we going to do? What did we do to deserve this? How could this happen?”

No one said a word. Yesterday, they were celebrating like they’d won it all. Now, they’d been tossed out on their butts.

This was their whole life’s fortune. Now it was gone, and so was their home.

How did it get this bad?

“Remember Doctor E? He wasn’t Doctor E at all. He was lying to us.”

David was silent for a moment.

Jessa’s voice trembled. “We put all our money in. Today, the court and the bank came and seized everything, even our house. We have nothing left. Please, help us. Help us find that fake Doctor E and get our money back.”

David waited a few seconds before replying. “I warned you about him. I told you something was off and not to risk everything.”

He sighed. “I haven’t been able to reach Doctor E either. Calling me won’t help. The longer you wait, the harder it’ll be to get your money back. You need to find the right person for this.”

Jessa swallowed. “The right person? Who are we supposed to go to?”
