He definitely understood what she meant. And he still had the nerve to say he’d brought more than one girl here. Lilly didn’t hold back. Her fist landed right on his chest. Hard as a rock. Her fingers throbbed as she pulled her hand back, frowning. “What on earth do you eat? Why are you so solid? My hand hurts.”
Jace looked down at her hand, delicate and already turning a little red. His lips curled up, just a little. “Why did you hit me?”
Lilly shot him a glare. “What do you think?”
He shrugged. “No idea.”
She huffed. “Yeah, right. Tell me, who were those other girls you have on your bike?”
Jace met her eyes. “My mom. And my sister.”
Lilly’s eyelashes trembled. Her face went bright red. She’d thought he meant other girls, but it turned out to be just his family. She wanted to sink into the floor.
Jace watched her, the way she seemed completely stunned, and couldn’t help but smile.
Lilly stomped her foot. “What are you smiling at? Are you making fun of me?”
“I’m not smiling,” he said, acting innocent.
Lilly stood on her tiptoes, closing the little distance between them. She reached up and pinched both sides of his mouth, pulling his lips into a smile. “I saw you. You were grinning just like this, laughing at me.”
Jace froze. The cut was right on his perfectly-shaped collarbone. Lilly kissed it so softly.
Jace put his hand on her forehead, trying to move her back. “Lilly, what are you doing?”
Lilly looked up at him, stretching as high as she could, and kissed him on the lips.
Jace went still, surprised. When he didn’t push her away, Lilly wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him deeper. He stood stiff, letting her lead, her soft scent filling his senses. It wasn’t their first kiss. Lilly traced his lips with her own, shy but bold, then nipped gently at his mouth.
Jace’s throat moved as he swallowed, and then Lilly slid her tongue between his lips, bold and daring.
