Rachel and Peter stared at Grandma Jill. “Mom, how can you just leave Jessa behind now? Are we even a family anymore?”
Maureen finally snapped. She definitely didn’t want to go down with Jessa. “What are you saying? Jessa stole Ella’s life. You two got all the perks from Mr. Harmon for years and never shared a thing with us. Now that Jessa’s been exposed, why should we pay for her mistakes?”
Logan and Ruby jumped in right away. “Exactly. Maureen’s right. We’re not going down for what you did. Mr. Harmon, if you want justice, go after Jessa. Leave us out of it.”
Rachel was so furious she could barely breathe. “You people are unbelievable.”
Lilly and Fiona watched, barely hiding their satisfaction. This whole mess, seeing them turn on each other, was the best kind of drama.
After all, Rachel had left Ella behind in the countryside all those years ago. Now it was her turn to feel what it was like to be tossed aside.
Lilly gave a cold laugh. “That’s karma for you. You got what you sow.”
Fiona chimed in. “Mr. Harmon, these people are the reason Ella’s father died. If you hadn’t protected them before, Ella would’ve had her revenge already. Now you see what they’re really like. It’s time for them to pay.”
Grandma Jill tried to plead. “Please, Mr. Harmon, don’t do this. Have mercy.”
David’s face was stone cold. “I let you fool me before. Now it’s time to settle everything, old and new. You have three days to go to his grave and beg for forgiveness. That’s your only chance. Don’t make me do something worse.”
He walked out without looking back.
Lilly and Fiona gave the family one last icy look. “You’re getting what you deserve. None of you will escape.”
