Wyatt’s face turned red with anger. “You!”
Ella reached out, holding his arm gently. She shook her head and spoke softly. “Wyatt, it’s okay. I’ll just go to the Irvine family’s place and see what happened.”
Wyatt’s voice dropped, almost a whisper. “Ella, Jessa is doing this on purpose. If you go there, you’re walking right into their trap.”
Ella glanced at the butler, her eyes calm. “I trust Mr. Wade. He would never let anything happen to me. I’ll be safe leaving the Irvine family’s house.”
Wyatt still didn’t look convinced. “But Ella…”
She cut him off, her tone steady. “Wyatt, I’ll be fine. I want to see for myself what kind of poison Jessa supposedly took.”
Wyatt saw the confidence in Ella’s eyes and finally gave in, his shoulders slumping. “Alright. Just be careful, okay?”
Ella nodded. “I will.”
The butler stepped forward. “Ms. Irvine, this way please.”
Ella followed him without hesitation.
Lilly and Fiona rushed toward her, but the bodyguards blocked their path. The two girls called out, worry etched on their faces. “Ella!”
Ella turned back and smiled at them, trying to reassure them. “Don’t worry, I’m fine.”
She slid into the back seat of a luxury car, and in seconds, the car was gone.
Fiona paced, anxiety in her voice. “What is Jessa up to this time?”
Lilly frowned, her arms crossed. “Jessa is the daughter of the richest man in the world now. With all that money backing her, she thinks she can do whatever she wants. I just don’t get it. How does someone like her get so lucky? How can the world’s richest man have a daughter like that?”
Neither of them could figure it out.
Suddenly, a sleek Rolls-Royce Phantom screeched to a stop nearby. David jumped out and ran toward them, desperate. “Ella! Where’s Ella? Did she leave already?”
Ella arrived at the Irvine family’s mansion. As soon as she walked in, Rachel shot up from her seat, practically shaking with anger. “Ella, what did you do to Jessa? What kind of poison did you give her?”
Ella’s gaze was steady and unbothered. “How do you know it was me?”
Rachel’s eyes narrowed. “Who else could it be? The other day at the department store, Jessa was talking to you. Right after that, she started feeling sick. The doctor said she was poisoned.”
Grandma Jill pointed accusingly. “Ella, how could you do such a thing? You actually tried to poison Jessa. How could you be so cruel?”
A small smile played on Ella’s lips. She looked from Grandma Jill to Rachel, her voice cool. “So, you know poisoning someone is cruel? Funny, I thought you didn’t realize that. What about all those years ago, when you worked together to poison my father? Weren’t you cruel then? Who are you to stand here and judge me?”
Grandma Jill’s face went pale. “Ella, how dare you talk to me like that!”
Rachel glared, her tone icy. “Ella, this time you’ve gone too far.”
She lifted her hand, ready to slap Ella across the face.
