The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 656

David looked at Ella. “Is Lola your daughter with Wyatt?”

Ella’s lashes trembled. She opened her mouth to answer, but Wyatt showed up right then. “Ella, Lola.”

David turned, catching sight of him.

Lola’s face lit up. “Papa Wyatt!” she called out with the sweetest little voice.

She called Wyatt her dad.

David felt his heart sink, heavy and cold. He almost laughed at himself. Why did he even bother asking? He already knew Ella had been pregnant with Wyatt’s child three years ago. Of course Lola was their daughter. And yet, for some reason, he still needed to hear it out loud.

What was he even hoping for?

Wyatt walked over with a smile, holding out his arms. “Come here, Lola. Let me carry you, or Mommy’s arms will get tired.”

“Okay,” Lola chirped, scampering straight into his embrace.

Wyatt lifted Lola easily and looked at David. “Mr. Harmon, it’s been a while.”

David nodded. “Yeah, it has.”

Wyatt grinned. “Funny how fate keeps throwing us together, Mr. Harmon. First Ella ran into you, now Lola too.”

Watching the three of them together like a real family hit David like a punch to the gut. His hands curled into fists before he could stop himself.

Wyatt went on, “Since we keep meeting like this, why not join us for dinner tonight?”

David shook his head. “No thanks. I’ve got work to do at the office. I should go.”

Wyatt just smiled politely. “Alright, Mr. Harmon. Goodbye. Lola, say goodbye.”

Lola waved her small hand, her eyes bright. “Bye.”

David turned around and left, not trusting himself to say anything else.

Ella laughed, shaking her head. Kids really didn’t get how complicated grown-up life could be. “Lola, are you hungry? I asked them to make all your favorite dishes tonight. Let’s have dinner.”

All at once, Lola forgot about matchmaking. “Yay, okay!”

David drove back to the Harmon family estate. As soon as he stepped into the living room, he saw Mrs. Harmon waiting in her wheelchair.

“David, what happened at the Emerald Banquet tonight?” she called. “Jessa just phoned me, complaining that Ella showed up and you were completely distracted by her. You even left Jessa there by herself.”

News traveled fast. Mrs. Harmon already knew Ella was in the Capital. She hadn’t forgotten her.

David wasn’t surprised at all. Jessa loved to complain. She’d been doing it nonstop for three years.

“Mom, I did run into Ella at the banquet tonight.”

Mrs. Harmon frowned. “Why is Ella here in the Capital? She must be here for you. David, you cannot let yourself get tangled up with her again.”
