The Genius Ex-Wife’s Revenge Portfolio novel Chapter 663

Lilly stood there for a while, lost in thought, before finally turning around and heading home. She and the other person drifted farther apart with every step, each moving in their own direction.

When Lilly got back, Victoria rushed out to meet her. “Lilly, you’re home!”

Lilly’s face brightened and she wrapped Victoria in a big hug. “Victoria, how come you’re back today?”

“Team practice got canceled, so I came home,” Victoria said, her voice full of excitement.

“That’s great. I’ll ask Ava to make some of your favorite dishes. You’re still growing, you need good food.”

Victoria studied her for a moment. “Lilly, I saw you through the window earlier. You looked really down, like you had something heavy on your mind. Weren’t you out with Ella? Did something happen?”

Three years had passed, and Victoria had grown from a shy middle schooler into a graceful eighteen-year-old. She was a genius, already making a name for herself in research, and it wasn’t hard for her to notice something was off with Lilly.

Lilly’s smile faltered. “Victoria, I think I saw your brother today…”

Victoria’s eyes went wide. “Seriously? Lilly, where? He’s been gone for three years.”

Lilly shook her head gently. “I didn’t actually see him. I just saw someone who looked a lot like him. I guess I was mistaken.”

The hope in Victoria’s eyes faded. After their mom passed away, her brother was the only family she had left, and then he just disappeared without a trace.

“Lilly, where do you think he went? Why hasn’t he come back for us after all this time?” Victoria’s voice broke and tears started to fall.

Lilly pulled her into a tight hug. “Victoria, I wish I knew. I wish I knew why he never came back for us.”

Jace stood outside in the night, watching the warm glow spilling from the villa windows. Inside were the two people who meant more to him than anyone else. That was where the warmth he’d always longed for lived.

But it was out of reach now.

He wasn’t Jace anymore.

Sometimes, when he looked in the mirror, he couldn’t even remember what he used to look like.

Earlier that day, when Lilly had pulled off his mask, he saw the fear and shock in her eyes. He wasn’t the man she loved anymore.

Maybe it was better this way.

He would keep his distance. He would let them leave the past behind and find happiness without him.
