The Great Medical Saint (Matthew) novel Chapter 1004

Upon hearing Matthew's words, Rachel gaped at him with her eyes wide open.

Imagine someone who'd spent their whole life on an island surrounded by sea waking up in the desert one day surrounded by nothing but endless sand. She was just as shocked as someone would be in that situation.

After a while, Rachel snapped out of it and asked with suspicion, "Are you being a little dramatic? A hospital is a place to heal people. With what you're saying, it doesn't sound like a hospital anymore."

Was it exaggerating? Matthew shook his head. "This is a problem every hospital has. You haven't seen the truly ridiculous stuff yet."

"A-are you saying it can get much worse than that?" Rachel responded.

She lived a worry-free life growing up, so she didn't have many chances to be around hospitals. Even when Fred was sick, she only needed to keep him company.

Her father and siblings took care of the billing and talked to the doctor to discuss the treatment.

The ideas of pointless treatment, unnecessary tests, and ineffective drugs had already thrown her for a loop. She couldn't fathom how things could get more absurd than that.

Matthew could understand where Rachel was coming from. He didn't believe it either in the past.

Since he was young, his favorite professions had always been police officer, teacher, and doctor. Out of the three, he liked being the doctor the most, so he went to college to study medicine.

He used to view doctors as life-saving angels in white, but now, he saw things differently.

Seeing the disbelief on Rachel's face, Matthew decided to tell more about the story. "You don't think it's true, right? Just a few days ago, I was on the search for the Harmona Sect's medical literature—Five Integrations of Traditional and Modern Medicine.

"I was looking for Pierre's, the Harmona Sect's successor's, nephew. During the school checkup, the doctor said there was something with his body and took him to the operating room.

"Later, they announced the news he was dead and wouldn't let the family see the body. Do you know why?"
