"Let me put it simply. The reason why those two stocks have been going up nonstop is that someone's pulling the strings behind the scenes. However, once they hit a certain limit, they'll crash fast and hard.
"If you bought it at two dollars, and the price drops to a dollar or even just a few cents, would you be willing to sell them?" Dalton asked.
The women exchanged looks. "Of course not. We'd hang on and wait for the price to recover."
"If you invested 200 thousand dollars and lost half of it, it's natural you'd be reluctant to cut your losses."
Dalton nodded. "Exactly. That's how most people think, and that's exactly what those manipulators are counting on.
"You might earn a tiny profit right now, but within three days, those two stocks will crash, and they'll crash fast. Once you're in, you're stuck. It'll be too late even if you want to pull out.
"Now, on the flip side, MIRXES and ZENTRIX Holdings will be surging in three days. Whatever you invest now could multiply several times over. That's what we call controlled nuclear fusion."
The women looked confused. "Controlled nuclear what?"
Dalton was about to explain, but stopped himself. He realized that trying to explain it in technical terms would only confuse them more.
Wynter quickly stepped up. "Forget the complicated terms. What my boss means is simple—MIRXES and ZENTRIX are sure bets. If you can make money, why not go for it?
"This is solid insider information. You're guaranteed to profit if you buy them now. The best way to build wealth is to have your money work for you. The more you earn, the better life will be for you and your family."
Ellen paused, then said, "I get it. It's plain stupidity if you don't make money when you can."
Wynter grinned and gave Ellen a thumb-up. "Exactly, Ms. Mette. You do get it."
Then, she turned to Dalton. "Boss, next time, just keep it straightforward."
Dalton's gaze darkened slightly. "The bottom line is to just buy as much MIRXES' and ZENTRIX's stock as you can in the next three days. It's fine if you don't believe us since you won't lose anything. But if you miss this chance, don't blame us when you're not making money.
"Alright, we're off. We still have to increase our positions in those two stocks."
A few passersby glanced at them with confused expressions. They wondered when people running pyramid schemes started dressing so fashionably.
Dalton was the first to leave. Wynter was about to follow when Ellen grabbed her arm. "Wynter, are you sure your boss is telling the truth?"
Wynter smiled. "Ms. Mette, it's okay if you're unsure. You can invest a little or nothing at all. My boss is telling the truth. If there's money to be made, why not make it together? I won't force anyone, though. Over the next couple of days, we'll still be increasing our stake."
She gave a polite nod and walked off with Wolf.
Ellen sat down thoughtfully. "Honestly, I think he made some valid points.
"I've been keeping an eye on Prosperity Holdings and Pacific Energy. A couple of months ago, their prices hit rock bottom, but they've been steadily climbing ever since. It does feel like someone's intentionally pushing them up."
The other women nodded, some scratching their heads. "Yeah, I feel the same. He looked very confident when he walked into the exchange and invested two cases of cash today."
"Exactly. And that so-called insider tip seemed believable, too. If this really is some capital-driven trap, I'd better run home and tell my neighbors. We all need to jump in and buy those two stocks while we can!"
One of them bolted out the door, and seeing that, Ellen and the two others quickly followed suit, rushing back home.
Wynter stood nearby, watching them leave with a faint smile on her lips. "It looks like they've made up their minds."
Dalton chuckled. "Your method worked well. Give it a little time, and the whole of Havenia will be talking."
Wynter leaned her chin on her hand. "Never underestimate the power of the crowd. If foreign investors want to manipulate the market, they'd better check if the Havenians agree."
Dalton's gaze darkened slightly. "We told them they had three days, but in reality, there's only one. The markets are closed on Saturdays and Sundays, so Friday's their only chance."
Wynter lifted her chin confidently. "Exactly. Every detail has to be thought through."
She then turned to Wolf. "Alright, what do you want to eat? Pick anything. Mr. Leprechaun's got deep pockets, so don't hold back. Once we're full, we've still got more to take care of."
Wolf nodded seriously. "I heard lobsters, oysters, and abalone are super pricey!"
Wynter laughed. "Yup. It doesn't matter how they taste—what matters is they're expensive. Let's go!"
…
After leaving the cafe and returning home, Ellen couldn't stop thinking. The more she thought about it, the more conflicted she felt.
Among the local retirees, Ellen had a solid reputation. Everyone knew she had a knack for getting reliable insider tips. Even when her picks didn't turn massive profits, they rarely resulted in losses. Due to that, people trusted her judgment without question.
At first, it was just the regular stock traders who followed her advice. But once her relatives and friends found out how sharp she was with investments, they started coming to her, too. Over time, she helped many of them make good money.
But this time felt different. She kept remembering how Wynter had pulled her aside before leaving, cautioning her not to spread the word. The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she became.
She didn't know if she should tell her family or not. It was a tricky dilemma. On one hand, she wanted to earn as much as possible herself. But if too many people got in on it, the profits might get diluted. Still, at the end of the day, family was family.
She let out a sigh and muttered, "I mean… I guess family members can't be considered 'other people.'"
Without hesitation, she grabbed her phone and called her sister-in-law when she arrived home. "Hey, meet me at the usual spot. I've got some info."
Her sister-in-law immediately understood. "Got it. I'll pack up and head over now!"
After hanging up, she turned to her husband. "Get your stuff. Your sister's got news."
"News? What news? Didn't we already say we're investing in Prosperity and Pacific?"
"Stop daydreaming! You know your sister! This has to be about a real money-making chance. Quick! If we miss this, I'll make sure you'll never sleep in peace again!"
…
Half an hour later, everyone Ellen had called had arrived.
She maintained her usual presence. "It's a huge insider tip this time. This is way bigger than those little profits we've made in the past. So, after I tell you, don't spread it around—just act on it. Especially you, Melissa!"
Her sister-in-law, Melissa Delora, played it off. "Oh, come on, you know me. I've always been tight-lipped. Don't worry—I won't breathe a word."
Everyone exchanged looks. They knew Ellen only ever called people together like this when it was something serious.
"Ellen, just tell us already. What's this big secret you're keeping from us?"
Ellen took a deep breath. "I ran into two foreign investors down at the exchange center today. They had just come back from overseas, carrying two full cases of cash. They didn't say a word—they just walked in and went all in on MIRXES and ZENTRIX Holdings!"
She paused dramatically. "After that, I managed to work my charm a bit and got close to the secretary. The foreign investor's secretary actually warmed up to me because I reminded her of a relative. But she made me promise to keep this strictly confidential!"
As soon as they heard "two cases of cash", everyone gasped. And when she said they went all in on MIRXES and ZENTRIX, it was like their minds were blown.
"I do what I want," Wynter said casually, withdrawing her finger. "Once this is wrapped up, we'll need to notify Mr. Maynerd and Mr. Chamberlain to begin their part."
Dalton nodded. "I'll follow your plans."
Right now, the exchange center was crowded with people. Wynter sent messages to Driscoll and Antoine, telling them to bring two cases of cash and come to the center.
Right after hitting send, Wolf suddenly flung the car door open, his mouth still shiny with oil. "Whew! Boss, I'm stuffed. No wonder those dishes are so expensive—they're worth every cent!"
"As long as you're full." Wynter pulled out two tissues and wiped his mouth. "Remember to wipe your mouth after eating next time. Otherwise, people will think you're messy."
"Got it, Boss." Wolf turned and blinked. "Huh? Why are Mr. Leprechaun's ears red?"
Dalton reached up to touch his ear, realizing that it was indeed burning. "It's stuffy in the car. It's too warm."
Wynter saw this and chuckled. "Is that really the reason?"
Just then, her phone rang. It was Driscoll. "Ms. Quinnell, I've arrived. Mr. Chamberlain is here, too."
"Come to the parking lot on the right," she replied.
After hanging up, Wynter opened the car door. "Let's go. They're here."
Dalton and Wolf got out of the car right after. Wynter looked toward the two cars approaching from a short distance away. Moments later, the vehicles pulled up in front of them.
Driscoll was the first to step out. "Ms. Quinnell, I've brought the two cases of cash you requested."
Antoine added, "I've brought my two cases of cash as well, Ms. Quinnell."
Wynter nodded. "I asked you here to make a statement. Both of you should know what I mean."
Even though the exchange center was crowded, almost half the people were merely observing, unsure about investing in those two stocks. After all, foreign investors were one thing, but locals from Havenia were another.
If Antoine and Driscoll made a move to buy, people would recognize them. Their involvement would maximize the impact.
Just as Wynter was about to say more, a young girl stepped out of the car. She beamed with a sweet smile. "Ms. Wynter! Wolf!"
Wynter smiled back. "Jules, you came, too. No wonder Wolf just told me his left eye twitched a moment ago."
Wolf was visibly confused. When did he even say that?
Jules turned to him. "You're amazing, Wolf! You could guess I was coming here!"
Wolf rubbed his ear. "Uh… yeah, I was right."
At that moment, his ears were just like Dalton's earlier—red and warm.
Wynter crouched down. "Jules, let Wolf take you for a stroll nearby, okay? Your dad and I have something to discuss."
Then, she looked up at Wolf. "Take Jules with you for a bit."
"Alright." Wolf looked up. "Come on, Jules. Grown-up stuff isn't our business. Just tell me whatever you want to do, and I'll take you."
