Dalton's foreign accent was impeccably authentic, every word sounding smooth and effortless. His "all in" carried the calm arrogance of those high-society figures in movies who treated millions of dollars like pocket change.
With his striking, sculpted features, he gave off the vibe of foreign royalty. He didn't just act wealthy—his whole presence radiated it. Just one word from him was enough to shift the entire room's mood.
"Now, that's a rich young man. If my son were that capable, I wouldn't have to stop by the exchange every time I finish buying groceries."
"Don't say things like that. He must have worked for it, too. Even if he's from some noble family abroad, they still have to climb their own ladders. It's not like he's the only heir."
"True. In the end, success comes from hard work. I'm going to tell my son to aim higher when I get home."
One person turned to ask, "Ms. Mette, what do you think?"
Ellen glanced up. "Let's just watch for now. He definitely came with deep pockets."
Even Wynter couldn't help giving Dalton a second look. There really was something about good-looking men who knew how to carry themselves. Just a few words from him, and he had the entire room under his thumb.
Originally, she was planning to use other tricks to stir suspicion if insider info were involved, but Dalton's move alone was enough.
From the moment they arrived, all they did was walk in with two briefcases of cash and buy large shares in MIRXES and ZENTRIX Holdings. Had they hesitated or seemed unsure, no one would have paid them any attention.
With imaginations running wild, the older folks started whispering.
"Ms. Mette, why don't you ask them?"
"Yeah, you're the best person for it. We're counting on you!"
Ellen hesitated. "I don't even know them. How am I supposed to ask?"
One woman tugged her arm. "We believe in you, Ms. Mette."
"Exactly! Your Emstian is great, so you'll be able to talk to them, unlike us. We barely know any Emstian words."
"Just try speaking casually. They don't look like the unfriendly type."
"The guy might be hard to talk to, but the lady looks approachable."
They meant Wynter, of course. She had always been adored by the older generation. After all, she was graceful, warm, and perfectly poised with every smile.
If it weren't for the need to have a CEO in name, Wynter would have handled everything alone. However, she couldn't bring herself to put on a cold, distant front in front of the older folks. Hence, she left the serious business persona to Dalton.
After setting everything up carefully, Wynter made sure to create the opportunity for others to come talk to her.
Standing beside Dalton, Wynter said quietly, "It sounds like they're buying into it. We've got what we wanted."
Dalton, ever composed and refined, replied, "I suppose it's your time to shine."
Wynter narrowed her eyes slightly. "In a bit. You need to stay here to hold the stage. I'll use the restroom as an excuse to slip away."
Dalton gave a slight nod. "Alright."
Just then, the broker's voice rang out. "Excuse me. The orders for MlRXES and ZENTRIX Holdings have gone through."
Wynter nodded and turned to Dalton, switching smoothly to flawless Emstain. "Mr. Yarwood, it's done. I'll freshen up for a moment and be right back."
Dalton shot her a cool glance. "Be quick. Don't waste my time."
Wynter blinked, wondering when he got so bold when talking to her.
However, with so many people watching, she played along. "Alright, Mr. Yarwood. I'll be quick."
She walked off slowly toward the restroom, casually taking out a compact powder, as if to touch up her makeup.
In reality, she was waiting for someone.
Sure enough, the older women noticed and hurriedly started urging Ellen.
"Ms. Mette, now's your chance. She's heading to the restroom."
"This is the perfect moment, and we can't let it slip by. It's not every day you get this close to big money."
Ellen gave in with a nod. "Alright, I'll go."
Compared to the others, Ellen was the image of elegance. She was well-dressed and tastefully accessorized. Usually, she would never do something like this, but today's events were too strange to ignore, and curiosity got the better of her.
She casually followed Wynter to the restroom. Seeing her standing at the mirror, she approached and said warmly, "Miss, I overheard earlier that this is your first time in Havenia."
"Yes, it's our first time here," Wynter replied, setting down the compact, though she hadn't actually touched up her makeup. Turning around with a smile, she added, "Havenia's lovely. It's a favorite destination for many overseas visitors."
Ellen didn't expect things to go so smoothly and instinctively started warming up. "Have you visited Midspire, Montcourt, or Neonreach yet? They're all beautiful places.
"You should also try our local meals! Custard tarts, clam soup, club sandwiches, beef stew… There are so many types of delicious food to eat here."
"We haven't had the time yet since we came here right away…" Wynter lowered her voice slightly, drawing things out. "You should understand that there's always time for fun, but… sometimes, getting ahead of the curve is more important."
Wynter understood perfectly why Ellen had approached her, so she simply took the lead and shifted the conversation toward the topic of Havenia stocks. That way, they wouldn't chat for too long. After all, she didn't want to keep Dalton waiting.
Sure enough, Ellen's eyes lit up when she heard Wynter's words. "I get what you mean. I've been trading for over a year myself. I've recently heard some buzz that foreign investors were planning to enter the Havenia market and start opening accounts.
"But you guys were really something today. Aren't you worried someone might target you since you showed up with that much cash?"
"We had little time. We came straight over once we got the word. After all, who would turn down an opportunity to make money?" Wynter said, adding just the right touch of mystery.
The vaguer she sounded, the more Ellen's imagination ran wild. "What kind of 'word' was it? Can you share it with me? I promise I won't tell a soul."
Wynter appeared hesitant. "This... It's from our boss, and I don't have the authority to talk about it without permission."
Ellen immediately jumped in. "Don't worry. I won't say anything to anyone!"
"It's not that I don't trust you. It's just… it might be too late by the time others hear about it. Also, this place isn't exactly ideal for talking. There are too many people around…" She cast a casual glance around the room.
Ellen nodded in agreement. "Right, right. Why don't we find a nearby cafe and chat there? I've got a few friends with me. Would it be okay if I brought them along?"
"Hmm… alright, but just three. No more than that. I'm sure you understand that information like this is valuable," Wynter said softly.
That only made Ellen more eager. She patted her chest confidently. "Don't worry, we won't let a word of this get out. Oh, by the way, what should I call you?"
"You may call me Wynter," Wynter replied with a warm smile. "To be honest, I only opened up because you reminded me of someone close to me. Otherwise, I wouldn't have said anything."
Wynter seemed satisfied with his answer. "After you, Mr. Yarwood. Wolf and I will be right behind you."
Inside the cafe, Ellen stood up as soon as she saw them. "Oh, you're here, Wynter."
Wynter smiled. "Yup, and I brought my boss with me. He'll explain everything in detail."
She leaned in and whispered to Ellen, "I put in a lot of effort convincing him, so you better listen carefully."
Ellen nodded, whispering back, "Thanks, Wynter. I knew I could count on you!"
The other three ladies glanced at Wynter. "If you hadn't said he was your boss, we'd think he was your boyfriend! What a fine young man! He gets more attractive the longer you look!"
"Right? If I were younger, I'd definitely go after him!"
"My husband used to dress up every day before we got married. After tying the knot, he totally let himself go. I must have been out of my mind when I agreed to marry him!"
Dalton and Wynter shared a quiet look, and the latter quickly stepped in before the four of them could drift into endless chatter.
"Yes, my boss is handsome, but I'm not thinking about relationships right now. My focus is on making money and growing my career. Women need to be self-reliant. After all, depending on others is risky. Mountains can crumble, and people can walk away."
The women nodded in strong agreement.
"You're right. Relying on yourself is the only way out."
"I wish I'd realized that sooner... Oh, well. There's no use dwelling on regrets now."
Clearing her throat, Wynter gently redirected them. "Let's save this conversation for later. My boss doesn't have much time, so let's let him speak."
"Oh, yes, of course! Go ahead, sir!"
Dalton chuckled, then shifted into his role as a CEO. "It took some convincing from my secretary to get me here, but I'm going to walk you through the information."
The women straightened up on their stools, fully focused on Dalton. After all, they weren't about to treat it lightly when money was on the line. They listened intently, ready to soak in every word.
Dalton asked calmly, "Which stocks in Havenia have caught your attention?"
Ellen paused briefly before responding, "Prosperity Holdings and Pacific Energy. They've been climbing steadily, and there haven't been any warning signs about them cooling off."
Dalton turned to her. "So, you're not too keen on MIRXES or ZENTRIX, then."
They exchanged glances before replying, "Exactly. Those two have been falling constantly. Anyone investing in them right now is just throwing money away."
Dalton gave a subtle nod. "That's because those stocks are being manipulated through wash trades. Foreign investors are using multiple accounts to trade back and forth, making it look like there's real movement. To put it simply, the two stocks you are interested in are merely orchestrated traps."
Ellen's eyes widened. "You're saying those 'rising' stocks are just performances?"
"But I've seen people profit from them. They buy low, sell high, and walk away with good money."
"Yeah! My neighbor invested in Prosperity and Pacific Energy. They just cashed out and made around half a million dollars!"
Dalton gave a measured cough. "That's because this is part of the foreigners' plans. Those small wins are intentional to lure you in. But the moment you go big, you won't be far from going bankrupt."
He continued in a steady tone, "Maybe you've heard this saying, but what meets the eye is merely the illusion they designed."
