The Heiress’ Return: Six Brothers at Her Beck and Call (Wynter Quinnell) novel Chapter 1972

Once the team leaders saw the message, they immediately put down whatever they were doing and began reporting in.

"Reporting to the captain—everyone is assembled and awaiting orders!"

Wynter checked the screen, and as predicted, the number of people present matched the expected count. She then posted the details in the public channel.

"The workload is heavy this time. Each team leader will take five members and head to various mainland barrier points for covert guarding. If you spot any unidentified individuals approaching, arrest them immediately. If they resist, you may act first and report later."

The team leaders quickly replied, "We guarantee the mission will be completed!"

"It's definitely for something big when the boss gathers us. Otherwise, she'd rather let us stay idle."

"We finally get to do something big again! The last time was when we hunted down Soren at the border. I haven't experienced that kind of operation in ages!"

Reading their replies, Wynter started reminiscing. Her memory of Soren was still vivid. Back then, she had gone to Nasnyae—a place of complex circumstances, rife with human trafficking and drug production.

In that lawless zone, Soren was the undisputed ruler. Any illegal activity there had Soren's involvement. Eventually, Soren grew bored with Nasnyae and tried to extend his reach into Cascadia.

If he hadn't set his sights on the Cascadian border, Wynter's Special Unit wouldn't have been sent to apprehend him.

That time, Wynter had brought ten Special Unit leaders. Only one was injured, while all of Soren's armed men were wiped out. Wynter personally ended Soren's life and destroyed his entire base of operations.

A thousand acres of poppy fields were burned to nothing under Wynter's orders.

No one knew exactly how Soren was annihilated overnight, only that Cascadia had a mysterious operative known as 001, appearing and disappearing without a trace, ending Soren's reign of terror along the border.

From that battle onward, 001's name became legendary. Those intending to push the dark market into Cascadia were forced to pull back.

Many knew Cascadia as a mysterious great nation, brimming with talent, but there were still some reckless fools who tried to slip in to cause trouble.

Pulling herself from her thoughts, Wynter continued sending messages to the group.

"This mission is different from the Soren operation. I won't be by your side this time. Do everything you can to keep yourselves safe. There are always chances to fight again as long as you survive, so retreat if you can't win. Don't let pride or anger drive you into a reckless fight.

"Most of you were personally recruited by me. I pulled most of you back from the very gates of hell, and others, I rescued from the hands of criminals. This time, things are tricky. You must be fully prepared and never let your guard down.

"Safety first. I will handle everything else. Am I clear? This isn't a concern—it's an order!"

Orders in the Special Unit were absolute. If a mission came with the word "order", it had to be carried out.

Talonclaw, Silkfang, Darkgalax, and Sabertooth all replied in unanimity, "We'll complete the mission successfully!"

One after another, the group leaders flooded the chat. They all understood that while Wynter called it an order, what she truly wanted was for them to protect themselves, avoid harm, and act within their capabilities. If things became too dangerous, they were to report to her immediately.

This was a unit with flesh and blood, not one that treated their lives as disposable. That was why they were willing to follow Wynter to their deaths.

Wynter's gaze darkened. She knew that missions inevitably came with sacrifices, but she could only do her utmost to keep those losses to a minimum.
